✸ Tell us about any NPCs on your blog. Who are they to your muse? What do they contribute to your blog?

There are a few NPCs that can be found in stories about Risri.

Her mother is probably the biggest one, and while I don’t write her often it is my headcanon that she is a big part of Risri’s life still.

I’ve a Captain of the guard that I use as Risri’s connection to what’s going on behind the scenes in Stormwind. I used him a lot more when she was running the courier, but have had a chance to bring him up a few times in some recent stories. There is a story needing to be written about how she met said captain in her travels before both came to Stormwind.

Ritti - while originally someone’s oc, when the person stopped playing them I sorta took the character idea as an NPC. I don’t write much about the gnome but she is someone that Risri cares about and checks up on when she is in Ironforge.

Various NPCs - there are little headcanon npcs that Risri interacts with on a daily basis or used to when she ran the courier. A bank teller, the gnome running the printing office that the paper is printed on, the noodle cart lady near the courier office, the clerk in the Moment in Time office - actual vendor in the stand in shop, a secretary npc at the courier, and various people Risri has taken pictures of or interacted with out and about in Stormwind, a Sentinel that worked with Risri years ago, and a druid trainer in Moonglade. 

Usually if I have an NPC, its a one off and there to help drive the story. Though some like her mother, the guard captain, and Ritti have made multiple appearances at various times.

How far past the canon events that take place in their world have you extended their story, if at all? 

I generally keep Mozelle fairly close to canon, as she is very much a product of her setting.  I try to avoid planning things too far in advance as well, on account of both Blizzard’s ability to take... interesting... directions in storytelling (cough Warlords cough) and my own tastes for a certain degree of spontaneity.

16. Biggest and smallest long term goal?

“My biggest long term goal is to raise my children to be the best that they can be, to see them grow, and to see them thrive. To see them safe, and happy. To make sure that they do not suffer their time int his world.” Elaianna had to crinkle her nose in consideration for the second part of the query. “Is there such a thing as a small long term goal?” There was a lengthy pause as she considered. “I suppose I would attempt to keep myself within the same weight range as I am in now, even in my older age. That’s likely as ‘small’ as a long term goal gets, isn’t it?” She could go on and on about big long term goals, but small? That was truly difficult.

Do you have a favorite author?

If you had asked me this a few years ago, I think that my answer would have been swift, and given without hesitation. My sensibilities aligned most closely with Mark Z. Danielewski, author of House of Leaves, The Fifty Year Sword, and a set of serialized novels, The Familiar. While I maintain that my current sensibilities still lie in league with his — non-linear structures, multiple points of view, multiple narrators, &c. — I have found that my tastes have veered toward the delicate, the subtle.

Maggie Nelson is my literary hero. Her work encompasses social criticism, gender theory, personal narrative, imagined realms, and abstract language … I suppose that would be the cost of being a poet first, and nonfiction writer later. Her narratives are arresting with their vibrant imagery, precise language, and honest, lucid tone.

Runners-up would include Anne Carson (reimagining and incorporation of classic mythology), William Faulkner (imagery, scene building, complexity), Earnest Hemingway and John Steinbeck (structure), Lady Mary Wortley Montagu (precise detail, complex narrator), Kathrine Mansfield (social critique, surrealist scene building, symbolism), Toni Morrison (magical realism, social commentary, symbolism), Edgar Allen Poe (compression, suspense, ambiguity), and Virginia Woolf (wonderful sentence structures, manipulation of perspective).

NAME:  Sheyla Browning AGE:  40SPECIES:  Human (Gilnean)PROFESSION:  RestaurateurSTATUS:  In Stormwind

BACKSTORY:  Sheyla grew up in Gilneas learning to cook. She worked in several local pubs and restaurants before being bitten during the wave of worgen attacks. Moving to Stormwind after the rescue during the Cataclysm, Sheyla worked at the Blue Recluse until she could save up enough to open her own restaurant.  Serving authentic Gilnean cuisine, Browning’s Bistro is open daily in a quiet corner of the Mage District. 

FEELINGS TO MUSE:  Risri met the restaurateur via the paper. Several ads were placed for the Bistro and Sheyla would occasionally send over pies for the team. It is a casual business relationship.

Nor mine without the person behind the character. @selisegraves is one of my favorite people in this world and in Azeroth. Follow for a great writer and a great character.)
