Qifrey x Selkie! Reader

Some minor hints that more is going on with Qifrey

Selkie au in which Qifrey's atelier is much closer to the sea. Qifrey chose to build his atelier closer to the thing he fears rather than its canonical location. The apprentices love spending their free time down at the beach. One day, Qifrey and the girls are going for a walk along the beach, only to stumble upon a very upset child. The little one looks to be somewhere between 4 and 6; on top of that, they are naked save for a very beautiful seal coat.

When the five of them ask if the little one is lost and how they can help, the little one gives them confusing answers. They managed to get the child's name, Ronari, and that he and his parent got separated during a recent storm, and he took shelter on the shore. When one of the apprentices asks about their boat, the little Selkie look at her all confused. Ronari is very insistent that they do not need boats. The girls are stuck on what to do, and ask, so Qifrey steps in.

Qifrey had realized quite quickly that Ronari was a selkie pup. He asks the pup whether he wants to stay down on the beach. When the pup picks beach, Qifrey sends some of the girls off to get food, water and some clothing for the pup. Qifrey even gives Ronari a little clasp so that they can better wear their coat.

Everyone tries their best to keep themselves entertained as they hang out at the beach. The girls and the pop have lots of fun, and the apprentices even get to show them fun spells with Qifrey’s approval.

As it gets later, Qifrey manages to have Ronari agree to come up for some supper, as long as they can stay outside facing the ocean. Lucky for Ronari, dinner was a fish dish. Qifrey instructs two of the girls to watch Ronari while he and the others cook.

The pup’s parent still has not shown up by the time the girls are sent off to bed. Now, little Ronari is getting sleepy and anxious, and they do not want to go inside to sleep. What if their parents come looking for him on the beach but cannot see him?

Qifrey ends up gathering blankets and pillows, and the two of them sleep outside. He is not willing to leave the little one alone but does not want to cause them more distress. When Qifrey finally falls asleep, he goes with a little selkie bundle snuggled up to him.

In the very early morning, Qifrey is woken by Ronari scrambling out of his arms and lots of seal barking. Qifrey rushes up and rights his glass to see Ronari run into the arms of a stunning, if exhausted, selkie.

Reader has spent the past day searching for their child. They were checking on more beaches before looking for a selkie town when they caught the scent of their baby. When they are cautious when they see their child running from a human building wearing human clothing. It does cause them much relief when they realize Ronari has his coat wrapped around him.

With Ronari in their arms, Reader noticed the human who came from where little Ro was sleeping. Qifrey introduced and explained their day together, with lots of interruptions from Ronari. A combination of Qifrey being a witch, Ronari's trust in him and their shared story of the day Reader puts their trust in Qifrey. Somehow, Reader agrees to have breakfast with the atelier residents; maybe they wanted to meet the girls and allow Ronari to say goodbye.

The girls are very excited to meet an adult selkie and have all sorts of questions for Reader. Olruggio comes out to eat and is very confused why there are two selkies in his home. He is judging Qifrey hard, and all Qifrey does is shrug. Everyone ends up saying very tearful goodbyes, but Reader is firm on not making any concrete plans to see one another again.

Almost a week later, there is a knock on the atelier door. Olruggio opens the door to a very excited selkie pup and a better-rested Reader. The selkies continue to make frequent visits to the atelier. Over time, these visits become more frequent and span more days.

Some days, the apprentices and Ronari play together on the beach, but on others, everyone goes about their normal routines with two more people in the household. When Ronari and Reader stay the night, the girls love to curl up in the living room and listen to Reader tell all sorts of selkie stories. On the nights when the children fall asleep during it, Qifrey and Reader find themselves quietly chatting and cuddling late into the night.

By winter, Qifrey asks if the selkies want to move in permanently. The room Ronari has been using is already decorated with all sorts of trinkets and such that they've made or been gifted. The room Reader has been using has all sorts of books and even selkie magic supplies. On top of this, both selkies have a growing collection of clothing for their time on land.

Qifrey and Reader's relationship slowly progress into something more. They only really realize it during a trip to town. They run into a selkie who mistakes the two for a couple. The selkie congratulates Reader for finding such a considerate mate, and he is a witch too. The lovely couple are both very flustered. The two go home, and that evening, talk things out and end up officially a couple.

Dont worry about taking your time wi tbh writing, this is more of a I had more Selkie reader x Qifrey though that I wanted to share before I forgot

Reader eats raw fish sometimes in both human and seal forms. Qifrey is definitely panicked the first few times but always tries to be supportive. I will say the pair have had to talk with the girls about not eating raw fish. I mean eating a whole fish bones and all doesn’t really go well for humans. Some of them are more interested in trying it than the others. I imagine Reader does there best to not eat raw fish in front of the kgirls afterwards.

Would be even sillier if one of the apprentices was also a Selkie. So now the other girls are complaining that she can do it but they can’t.

AN: yes I got lazy writing the title, maybe I'll change it someday. Anyway it's 🦭-Anon again everyone give them a round of applause!!

The first time Qifrey witnessed you casually eating an entire raw fish, he genuinely thought something had gone horribly wrong.

It happened early in the morning before the apprentices had fully woken up. Rain tapped softly against the atelier windows while pale dawn light spilled across the kitchen, and Qifrey had just entered expecting a quiet cup of tea before the chaos of the day began. Instead, he found you sitting comfortably at the table with damp hair, half wrapped in a blanket, holding an entire fish in your hands.

Not prepared fish.

Not cooked fish.

Just… a fish.

Qifrey stopped in the doorway.

You looked up happily. “Good morning.”

Then you bit directly into the fish.

There was a very long silence.

Qifrey stared at you in complete disbelief while you blinked back innocently, clearly unaware anything unusual was happening. The worst part was that you looked perfectly content about it too, casually chewing while your sealskin rested drying near the fireplace.

“…Is that safe?” he finally asked carefully.

You looked confused. “Why wouldn’t it be?”

“You’re eating it whole.”

“Yes?”

“With the bones.”

“They’re crunchy.”

Qifrey closed his eyes briefly.

To his credit, he tried very hard to be supportive about the entire thing afterward. You explained patiently that selkies often ate raw fish both in human and seal form, especially fresh catches from coastal regions. Apparently it was completely normal. Healthy, even. Qifrey listened attentively despite still looking vaguely horrified every time you casually crunched through tiny fish bones like they were crackers.

Unfortunately, the real disaster began once the apprentices found out.

It happened because Neri, your young selkie apprentice, inherited your terrible habits.

One afternoon, Coco wandered into the kitchen searching for snacks and discovered both you and Neri sitting together at the counter eating raw fish straight from a freshly delivered basket while discussing spell diagrams. Neri was in seal form, happily balancing a fish between tiny flippers while you peeled scales off another one absentmindedly.

Coco stared.

Neri stared back.

Then Neri proudly swallowed the entire fish whole.

Coco screamed.

After that, the atelier descended into complete chaos.

“No,” Qifrey said for what felt like the hundredth time that day, “you absolutely cannot eat raw fish whole.”

“But they do,” Tetia argued immediately while pointing accusingly at you and Neri.

“Yes,” Qifrey replied with remarkable patience, “because they are selkies.”

Neri barked proudly from the table.

Agott crossed her arms stubbornly. “I still don’t understand why they can do it but we can’t.”

“Because you are human,” you explained gently.

Richeh looked deeply skeptical. “You’re also human sometimes.”

“That’s not really how being a selkie works.”

Meanwhile, Coco looked fascinated in the worst possible way.

“So theoretically,” she began carefully, “if someone very determined tried it—”

“No,” both you and Qifrey answered instantly.

Qifrey became significantly more alarmed after catching Coco staring thoughtfully at uncooked fish several times afterward.

To prevent further incidents, the two of you eventually sat all the apprentices down for what became known as The Fish Discussion. Qifrey handled most of it with the exhausted seriousness of someone attempting to prevent small children from poisoning themselves while you sat beside him trying not to laugh every time Neri dramatically flopped around in seal form looking offended by the restrictions.

“Raw fish is perfectly safe for selkies,” Qifrey explained carefully. “It is not safe for the rest of you.”

Tetia raised her hand. “What if we only eat a little bit?”

“No.”

Agott frowned. “What if it’s a very small fish?”

“No.”

Coco leaned forward. “What if—”

“No.”

You finally took pity on him at that point, gently resting a hand against his shoulder while trying unsuccessfully to hide your smile. “What Qifrey means is that selkie bodies process things differently. Neri and I grew up eating fish this way, but human stomachs are more delicate.”

Richeh looked personally offended by that statement.

The situation became even worse because Neri absolutely weaponized this new information against the others.

Every single time the apprentices complained about restrictions, Neri would transform into seal form and loudly crunch through raw fish directly in front of them with visible smugness. Coco called it showing off. Agott called it unfair. Tetia called it “inspiring,” which worried Qifrey tremendously.

Eventually, you started trying not to eat raw fish around the children altogether.

Or at least you tried.

One evening, Qifrey walked into the kitchen late at night and immediately stopped after spotting you halfway through guiltily hiding a raw fish behind your back.

There was a pause.

Then Qifrey sighed softly. “You know,” he said with quiet amusement, “you don’t actually have to conceal your natural eating habits from me.”

“I’m trying to set a good example.”

“You are eating fish in secret at midnight.”

“I’m setting a private example.”

Qifrey laughed quietly under his breath before walking closer. You looked comfortable like this, curled up near the kitchen window with moonlight spilling softly across your face while your sealskin blanket draped around your shoulders. There was something strangely endearing about the contrast between your sheepish expression and the very obvious fish tail sticking out from behind your arm.

“You really frightened me the first time I saw you do this,” he admitted while sitting beside you.

You looked delighted. “You thought I was dying.”

“You ate the bones.”

“They’re nutritious.”

“You said they were crunchy.”

“They can be two things.”

Qifrey shook his head fondly before gently brushing damp strands of hair behind your ear. His expression softened almost immediately afterward, becoming warm in that quiet way it always did around you. “For the record,” he murmured, “I’m much more accustomed to it now.”

You smiled. “You’re adapting very well to selkie behavior.”

“I deserve recognition for my bravery.”

“You watched Neri swallow an entire fish whole yesterday without screaming.”

“I was screaming internally.”

Your laugh filled the quiet kitchen warmly enough that Qifrey smiled automatically in response. Then, after a moment, you carefully broke part of the fish in half and held it toward him teasingly.

“Want to try some?”

Qifrey stared at it.

Then at you.

Then back at the fish.

“…Absolutely not.”

You laughed so hard you nearly dropped it while Qifrey watched you with helpless affection shining openly across his face, like even moments this ridiculous somehow felt precious simply because they belonged to you.

another silly idea was a Selkie au where Selkie Reader who bring one of the apprentices to Qifrey, could even be Coco and have the kid be a Selkie too.

I can just imagine the other kids using the Selkie apprentices round seal eyes in seal form to get into mischief.

or the atelier having a peach day and Reader and the Selkie kiddo playing out in the water. He would stare so lovely at the two of them

The first time Qifrey met you, you arrived at the atelier soaked in seawater with a tiny spotted seal tucked carefully beneath your arm like it was the most normal thing in the world. Coco had immediately rushed toward you with wide eyes, asking if you had rescued a baby animal, only for the seal to bark indignantly before wriggling free and transforming into a very embarrassed child wrapped in a sealskin cloak two sizes too large. The entire room had gone silent after that.

Agott stared. Tetia looked seconds away from vibrating out of excitement. Olruggio pinched the bridge of his nose like he could already sense future problems approaching. Qifrey, meanwhile, simply crouched in front of the child with calm curiosity and smiled warmly. “Well,” he said gently, “that certainly explains the hat.” Sitting crookedly atop the child’s damp hair was a pointed witch hat that nearly covered their eyes.

You introduced the child as Neri, explaining that they were a young selkie from your coastal colony who had recently shown magical aptitude and had become hopelessly fascinated with witches after hearing stories about them. Neri, still dripping seawater onto the floorboards, had immediately pointed at Qifrey and announced with complete seriousness that his hat looked nicer than everyone else’s. Qifrey had laughed softly at that, clearly charmed from the very beginning, and before long Neri officially became part of the atelier. Unfortunately for everyone involved, the apprentices quickly discovered that selkie children were dangerous in one very specific way: they were impossible to refuse when transformed into seals.

Neri’s seal form was painfully small and round, with enormous dark eyes and twitching whiskers that made every expression look devastatingly pitiful. It started innocently enough. Coco would sneak them extra pastries because “they looked hungry.” Tetia would let them nap in her lap during lessons because “they looked sleepy.” Even Agott, despite insisting she was immune to manipulation, once surrendered an entire tray of candied nuts after Neri stared at her silently for less than thirty seconds. You warned Qifrey about this one evening while the two of you cleaned brushes together in the workshop. “They know exactly what they’re doing,” you told him while watching Neri flop dramatically across the floor in seal form because Coco stopped petting them for five seconds. “Selkie children figure out very early that people think they’re cute.” Qifrey glanced over at the tiny seal sprawled across the floorboards and smiled faintly. “I can’t imagine that becoming a serious problem,” he said.

It became a serious problem almost immediately.

Within a month, the apprentices had developed an entire system around Neri’s seal form. If Coco wanted extra art supplies from Olruggio, suddenly Neri would appear nearby blinking up at him with impossibly mournful eyes until he got distracted enough to give in. If Tetia got caught causing trouble, she would shove Neri forward like a shield while whispering dramatic apologies behind them. Agott pretended to hate all of it, but you once caught her carrying seal-form Neri tucked carefully beneath her arm while muttering that the floorboards were too cold for them to sleep on. The worst betrayal came from Richeh, who absolutely started using Neri to distract Qifrey during lessons whenever he forgot assignments.

Qifrey finally realized how bad things had become after walking into the kitchen one evening and finding obvious chaos. Richeh was hiding a tray of stolen pastries behind his back. Tetia looked guilty in the way only Tetia could. Coco was laughing so hard she could barely breathe. And sitting proudly in the center of the table was Neri in seal form wearing Qifrey’s hat. “What,” Qifrey asked slowly, “is happening here?” The tiny seal blinked up at him innocently. Behind him, you made the mistake of laughing out loud. Qifrey turned toward you immediately, narrowing his eyes with amused suspicion while you tried unsuccessfully to compose yourself. “You warned me,” he accused. “I did,” you replied. “You didn’t listen.” Neri barked proudly at that before scooting toward Qifrey across the tabletop in tiny determined wiggles.

You recognized the tactic instantly. “Don’t look directly at them for too long,” you warned between laughs. “That’s how they get you.”

Unfortunately, it was already too late.

Qifrey looked down. Neri looked up with enormous glossy seal eyes. There was a long moment of complete silence before Qifrey sighed softly and scooped the tiny seal into his arms anyway. The room erupted immediately. Coco cheered triumphantly while Agott groaned in disappointment and Tetia loudly declared that another victim had fallen. Neri chirped in obvious victory before curling comfortably against Qifrey’s chest while he absentmindedly rubbed a hand along their back. The sight made something warm settle in your chest before you could stop it. Qifrey noticed your expression almost instantly because he always noticed everything about you. “What?” he asked quietly, smiling when you looked away in embarrassment. “Nothing,” you murmured. “You’re just good with them.” His expression softened immediately at that, becoming gentler in a way that always made your heartbeat feel unsteady. He glanced down at sleepy little Neri bundled comfortably in his arms before looking back at you with quiet amusement lingering in his eyes. “I think they remind me of someone,” he said. You laughed softly. “Mischievous?” “Very.” “Troublemaking?” “Absolutely.” You smiled. “Cute?” Qifrey’s gaze warmed so visibly it nearly hurt. “Dangerously so,” he answered.

For a moment the noisy kitchen faded into the background completely. The apprentices were still arguing. Neri was still stealing affection from everyone in reach. Somewhere nearby, Olruggio was probably developing another stress headache because of this household. But Qifrey only looked at you with that impossibly fond expression while warm lamplight caught against his hair, and suddenly it became very difficult to remember why you had ever tried keeping your distance from him at all.

Nik met his baikal nerpa selkie the last time he had to dump a body there. Well, he was noticed first by the selkie.

The fat seal had been observing Nik as he scouted out the perfect place to sink the bastard that last crossed him. The oxygenated abyss the perfect place, with its abundance of over 300 amphipod species, to dispose of people. Arriving alive or dead didnt make much of a difference when the rift claimed them fast enough.

A few weeks passed and he had to return to Lake Baikal for some reason or other. While ther he had caught a poacher in the act, with you trapped and wounded. And who was he to let such an adorable and special seal species be left to die by the hands of such a despicable being. He wasnt any better, he just knew not to mess with mother nature.

The third time he met you in seal form, he was just there to observe the wildlife and maybe scout the area for a new safe house, having noticed the calm around here. If you ignore poachers and him. Watching you wriggle your way to land and relax on shore.

A few weeks passed yet again when you revealed yourself. With you having just you had just drowned a pesky human who had wanted your pelt to have a pretty selkie bound to him. You werent really planning to show yourself but when a handsome russian gave you back your pelt and offered an oversized jacket, even tho you had enough blubber to stay warm even in human form, you didnt really have a choice.

Now he visits there to see them and the pretty bubbles in the ice with one or two disposings in between.

And the place he scouted was chosen to build something better than the little safe house he once planned.

The nest was comfortable. Unfairly so.

Adrian hated how well he fit into it. Or perhaps it was the songs you sang ,low and ancient, ocean-laced melodies that lulled him into sleep against his will.

He lay with his head resting on your chest, arms tucked beneath your shared weight, listening to the gentle hum vibrating through your body.

Your pelt draped over him, soft beyond reason. You had shaped it into scarves and coats and ridiculous winter hats, all for him, despite his insistence that cold never bothered him.

You never listened.

Your fingers trailed over the old scars on his chest pale reminders of past, half-faded into his skin.

“Human hurt you?” you asked softly, your Western tongue still a little clumsy, each word carefully chosen.

He blinked up at you, eyes still heavy with the pull of your song. “Some did,” he said after a pause.

You frowned, fingertips pausing over a particularly ragged scar. “Why?”

Adrian exhaled through his nose. “Because I was… my father hurt them.”

You tilted your head, confused. “Why hurt you? Your father is not you.”

He smiled faintly. “They did not see it that way.”

You looked at him for a long time, eyes luminous and full of a quiet sorrow.

“Foolish humans,” you whispered.

And Adrian didn’t correct you.

Because, in that moment, curled in a nest of salt-scented blankets, your pelt over his shoulders, your heartbeat beneath his ear, he almost believed it too.

🦭Shaw & Selkie! Reader: Part 2🦭

Shaw bound your wrists and ankles and loaded you into his truck. The whole ride you sat with your back facing him, staring out the window. You knew it would make him happy to see you cry, but he was satisfied all the same. He was bringing home a real trophy. A live one too.

Shaw’s cabin was damp and dark. He set you down on the floor and began making a fire. Once he was finished, he sat down across from you in an old, wooden rocking chair. He leaned back and it creaked loudly. You jumped at the strange sound.

“Scared?” he asked.

You didn’t answer. You couldn’t even bring yourself to look at him.

Shaw had three rules for you; to cook, to clean and to keep quiet. You had to abide by these rules, or else.

“I’ve never used a stove before,” you said. “Or a broom,” you said.

“I’ll show you,” Shaw replied.

“So, If you can do it, why should I be the only one doing it? Can’t we both—?”

“Enough questions!” Shaw snapped. He took your sealskin — which had been slung over his shoulder — and held it in front of the fire.

“Don’t!” you begged. “Please!”

Shaw withdrew the sealskin from the flames.

“If you speak out of turn again, I’ll cut out your tongue too!”

He got up and trudged down into the cellar. He returned with a long chain with a cuff on the end. He untied your legs and shackled the cuff to your ankle.

Then, you watched Shaw lock away your sealskin in a wooden chest. The chest was placed on a shelf on the far side of the cabin where your chain couldn’t reach.

Shaw paused, yawned loudly, before going back down into the cellar, returning with a heap of furs. He dropped them onto the floor. “Voilà; your bed.”

After everything Shaw put you through, this half-cocked gesture of hospitality came as a pleasant surprise.

Resigned, you laid down and fell asleep.

The Selkie and the Sailor

A tale as old as the ages. A human hopelessly enamored by a selkie. Captain Frederick Farview, in his early thirties, was the human. He owned and sailed a large leisure vessel for wealthy customers.

And you were the selkie. An abnormal male one at that. 

He had first encountered you while doing a cruise for wealthy clients. From the boat, he had seen a strange sight. He saw a beautiful man put on some sort of cloth and transform into a beautiful seal before sliding into the water and swimming away. 

He had been so enamored by the creature he had seen in the moonlight that he had to see it again. Out of pure curiosity, and to assure himself that he had not imagined it, he took a smaller personal boat back to the location after the cruise finally ended.

The captain knew it was likely a long shot, but he had to know for sure. To his surprise, he actually went around you, sitting on a rock jutting out of the water in the distance. Though you swam away when you noticed him. 

You had been warned about humans.

But eventually, your curiosity got the better of you, and his persistence paid off. You allowed him to approach within speaking distance. He was charming and kind. Curious about your origins and culture.

Soon enough, he won you over. You shed your seal skin lower half, which allowed you to morph into a human form and board his fancy yacht.

After a few times, you let your guard down, and he wrestled your magic skin from you and forced you to be his.

He hid it away and took you to his home. Having nowhere else to go in this strange world and owning nothing, not even clothes, you were dependent on him and had to endure marriage to him. 

But worse than that, you had to endure his cock constantly. Filling your mouth or ass with his seed constantly. It seemed there was nothing he liked more than having his hands caressing you as he fucked into you while babbling about how perfect and beautiful you were.

One day, though, you finally found your skin. He had taken you for a small trip on his personal yacht, and you found it still stashed there all this time while he slept. Like a treasure to be hidden away from the world.

A treasure indeed.

You took it to the deck and slipped it on before jumping into the water with a splash. Captain Farview woke up and found you missing from his side. He arrived just in time to see you swim away.

With a growl of frustration, he got some fishing gear and was in hot pursuit. The waters here were shallow, so he knew if he was fast, you wouldn't be able to escape.

In the end, he caught you in a net. When he took you home, he tied you up in front of the roaring fireplace and threw your seal skin, your selkie birthright, into the flames.

You screamed and lunged forward, but his strong hands kept you in place as you howled in agony. It pained him to see you like this, but it was the only way to get it through your head that your place was with him.

He picked you up and buried your face in his chest as you wept.

"Come on, let's get you to bed. You've had a long day."
