This should shock Canadians, but I doubt it! They are ALL sleepwalking into 2024's version of 1984 and they don't even know because THEIR representatives refuse to tell them what's going on! https://www.spreaker.com/episode/ehr-1222-morning-moment-jodyledgerwood-bill-c293-sep-18-2024--62002905
The Spineless Creep
An experience we as women of color dread is that of being undermined by a fellow brother and thrown under the bus by your male counterparts, with the assistance of fellow daughters of the soil who are driven by greed systematically planted within their minds. An individual draped in rolls of fake activism and sympathy has wormed its way into the tail of a movement which represents and is for the…

Victim Card
One of the many many galling parts of James Kirchick's little shitfest is when he drags out a transgender person to defend his line. Thanks, Dana Beyer, for throwing us under the bus.
Though Beyer has plenty of problems with the way the media portrays the transgender community, she takes umbrage at “people out there screaming and complaining…They’re all playing the victim card.” She went on: “We made progress on gay rights because gay people decided they’re not going to be victimized. They said, ‘stop allowing yourself to be demonized and victimized.’ Trans people still have a tendency to do that. Many of us are very broken because we’ve been closeted for so long.”
Is "playing the victim card" something people can still say with a straight face? It's a parody of privileged obliviousness.
The "contrast" with the gay rights movement is nonsensical, because THE POINT OF THE BACKLASH is to NOT be demonized and victimized?
She's arguing tactics, basically, telling us to sit down and don't be uppity or we'll scare the powers that be. (i.e. she thinks we should be nicer to HRC.) It's just tired old conservative bullshit.
Seriously, fuck her privilege blindness. I myself have it better than most trans people. I got a supportive family, I'm white, I pass okay, and I live in a progressive town. I don't think I've ever had a transphobic slur thrown at me to my face. I've never been groped, or sexually assaulted, or murdered for being trans. I've never been fired for coming out.
So what are you guys whining about? It's not that bad! Obviously the only thing keeping you down is you keep playing that victim card!
What's the murder rate for trans women of color? Who cares, just stop whining. The media regularly dehumanizes us and perpetuates damaging stereotypes? Just suck it up. I did! Why can't you?! Discriminated in the workplace? Stop looking for things to be offended by.
Take it from me, quit whining and assimilate and be white and things will be pretty okay!
