I hope this counts as ship art enough ♡ I was a bit confused until I saw the "But if anyone is going to kill you, it's going to be me." interaction. I get it now I think

it's starting to sink in just how tragic (and canon) Selvin really is

All the information pointing towards it is on the wiki but it kills me that the archmother really kinda shoves a knife in the wound with this comment:

-rem has the same comment about them both, just switched

-why would lady geist associate ettrick and Kelvin so closely if they weren't closeted?

-the reminder of "old times" when being healed

-kelvin pushed ettrick away because of his "ambition" (apotheosis)

-Could Kelvin have woken up the way he did because he knew something bad would happen if ettrick got his wish, so he stepped in to foil this plan?

Whatever happened to doom the expedition, could it have been ettrick's fault? Is that what caused him to get captured, after he "vanished?" We don't really have a timeline.

As far as I can parse,

-ettrick/seven "scurried like a rat" as a child, so he was likely in a position of doing work for someone else, was afraid all the time, underprivileged, or something. We don't know.

-Something happened that got him waaaay into the occult. Not necessarily following him being a child chronologically, those aren't mutually exclusive. Assuming the first maelstrom happened, since Kelvin (frozen for a year and a half? Not that long) appears to be middle aged. They are both really into the occult, so perhaps this happened in their early childhoods. Did his quest for apotheosis start here?

-??? Something happened for ettrick to cause a scene at lady geist's dinner party. She funded their expedition, after all.

-on their way to the Arctic, while they did love each other at this point, they started to drift apart due to ettrick being kind of delusional and generally Not Great about the whole apotheosis thing. They started to gain some tension, possibly broke up over this

-ettrick caused the expedition to fail, somehow. He wanted to take the artifact Kelvin has for himself, given the archmother's line. He would have achieved some form of higher state, even immortality. Kelvin stepped in at the last minute, knowing this would be bad; he stopped him, but killed himself in the process. The stone would go on to sort of pseudo-ressurect him, defying death at least for him.

-ettrick dissappears. We can assume he returned to wherever they were from, scorned, when news of what he did to cause the expedition to fail / the astral gate not to open or whatever came to the OSIC.

-Apparently, the OSIC was the one who got him and shoved him into lost whisper, given some of his voice lines about having experience with them- maybe they offered to take him home, just to imprison him, based on his line to rem?

-queue his current circumstances. Defied death, Eldritch electricity, so on.

-wants to kill kelvin. Wants the rock, wants apotheosis. I think kelvin's death kind of shattered him, in a way. Whatever madness he had before was tripled. Maybe he wants to end whatever they had for good. Finally lay his ex-lover to rest, and take what's rightfully his, he thinks.

I...don't know if this is right. I'm on so many layers of copium it's hard to think

how am i supposed to do my Job when i have deadlock brainrot. i cannot stop thinking about seven and kelvin. i literally cannot draw nor write and i’m about to learn how to do one or both because i am starving for selvin content. i’ve been rereading the same few fanfics over and over to the point i basically have them memorized now (shout out to the two main authors in the ao3 tag you guys are so fucking good). somebody please FEED MEEEEEE
