Selving - Willed Into Existence
Structures Without Purpose
2021
July, July;
This should have been the year in which I, somehow, mined peace. Won progress. I try to hold fast to these ought-to-be mile-markers. All I seem to be able to do is scrabble. I don’t know how to press onward when The Cause is just me--just the continuance of Me. I don’t think I know any more of Me than the clench of my teeth and the knotting of my back against that which I wish were less familiar.
Selving is the most complex of human phenomena. The 'truth' of what is seen/imagined/reported about the process of selling must be partial, situated, and imbued with the meanings of the moment and the localities of both the investigator and the investigated. These limitations make the competing accounts of greater, not less, interest and value because they make them more human, more a souvenir of the most human of human endeavors - the struggle to understand oneself.
