Simargl is a magical creature from Slavic mythology. Appearing as a winged dog or lion, he is revered as a deity by some - including grand Prince of Kiev Vladimir the Great - as a deity.

Simargl's wife is Kupalnitsa, the goddess of the night. He is the father of Kupalo, the mighty sun of the summer solstice, and the fertility goddess Kostroma.
