I went to the er this morning cuz I have strep (tested positive monday) and my symptoms have been progressively getting worse. To the point where my tonsils and uvula were so swollen I couldn't swallow and I also lost my voice. Well when I went to urgent care the first time, I only had fever and swollen tonsils. And that doctor told me to go to the er if after 24hr of starting antibiotics, my symptoms don't improve and I have trouble swallowing. I go in at 5am because I have been getting worse and I wanted to make sure the infection didn't travel. Anyway, I check in and everyone questioned how I knew I had strep (they even ordered a test) after each time I told the nurses and doctor that I tested positive and this is the medicine I'm on. They do the strep test and covid, and the doctor says "oh it's already better! You just need some ice water and some throat logins." So I waited for the tests to come back as I expected and to everyone's surprise, it was strep! Anyway, I took another day off because I can't speak, I can't swallow properly, I have a cough, and I have a phantom fever. I've been sipping cold liquids all day to help the swelling like I was told, and have choke twice on my saliva. My ear canals feel like they're on fire. And trying to ingest anything absolutely knocks the wind outta me. Anyway, I'm miserable and don't recommend getting sick.
