So, are we any closer to figuring out what Nott has that belongs to Dolan Tversky and why she has it?
We know she says she has something that belongs to him and that he would not recognize her if he saw her. (Because she’s never met him? Because she’s a goblin now?) We know that Dolan is the Archmage of Dysology.
What “Dysology” means is questionable. I’ve seen this copy pasted a lot:
Dysology is the study of orthodox bias, academic blind spots, irrationality, pseudo scholarship and fraud influencing bad social science research, bad science, bad policymaking, quackery, counterknowledge, 'voodoo histories', 'voodoo criminology', 'flat earth news', unevidenced claptrap, truisms dressed up as causalities, de-bunked beliefs, and other ignorance.
But, as far as I can tell, it’s not a widely recognized field or anything. It seems to be more a term someone coined for a book/their own research.
There’s “dyslogy.” Defined as:
1. the fact of criticizing or condemning
2. (Psychology) the aspects suggested in processing information and liable to be at the root of mistakes made in thought processes
Matt went so far as to spell out “dysology” when talking to the players, but I’m leaning towards the idea that he just got the wrong spelling. Granted there is some obvious overlap between the terms.
We now know that Yeza was working with the Cerberus Assembly. It feels like an awfully big coincidence that Nott having something of Dolan’s is completely unrelated.
So did Yeza have some kind of tenuous connection with the Assembly before Veth was killed? If so, it doesn’t seem like Veth knew about it. Nott is completely blindsided by everything they find in the basement. Sam even turns to Matt and asks to confirm for himself that she doesn’t know what’s going on.
Had Yeza been approached by the Assembly before? If so, it seems like he turned them down. Did he change his mind after Veth died? Did he need the money? Was he tempted with that idea that he could maybe bring Veth back?
I’m interested in the latter since it draws on parallels with Caleb’s goals. There’s also this overarching mystery of a “mysterious magic woman” and death/resurrection and how much the Assembly has had a hand in manipulating people/events central to the plot.
Did Nott get something of Dolan’s while she was with the goblins? Was the Assembly involved with them? Was the Brenatto family being taken arranged or a happy accident that the Assembly used to their advantage? I can’t imagine Veth being changed was done to gain any sort of leverage over Yeza, so how do all these dots connect??? Do they connect? I NEED ANSWERS!
