A chuckle escaped his lips while his thumb gently outlines your figure on the picture frame. Music played in the background but it all became static noise to his ears. He used the sleeve from his right hand and wiped away the tear that escaped from his eye.
“I-I’m so sorry...” he whispered “God...I miss everything about you...”
He placed the frame down on the nearby coffee table, his body leaned back against the couch. Kuroo covered his eyes putting pressure on them to stop the tears from coming out. “FUCK!” he yelled and finally let out the sobs that he tried hard to control.
As the days passed by, the harder it became for him to accept the fact that you were gone. Denial was the first stage when you lose someone, even though you weren’t completely gone...to him it felt like you were. As soon as you left he realized how wrong he was for saying all those things. He should have appreciated you more when he had you around. Now he was paying the consequences for his actions.
A gentle tapping sound was then heard coming from the door. “Go...away,” he muttered covering his ears “Open up...come on Kuroo.” the voice said. “I don’t want anyone! LEAVE!” he yelled the sound of keys jiggling was heard and then the door opened.
The figure walked in and saw Kuroo curled up against the couch. “W-why...didn’t you leave?...” they walked over to where he was and sat down beside him. “Because...you’re in a horrible state...I wasn’t going to leave my friend alone.”
Kuroo removed his hands from his eyes and looked to the side to see Kenma there. “K-Kenma...” he muttered “Hey Kuroo...” he mumbled. Tears swelled up in his eyes once again and Kenma then pulled him into a hug. All the years that he has known him he has never seen his old friend this weak. He was always the one to have such a strong attitude. The one he went to when things got tough now it was his turn to be there for him.
Kenma rubbed his back gently as he cried holding his friend tightly. “I-I’m such...a-an i-idiot...I-I’m...all...a-alone...” Kuroo said, “You’re not alone.” he replied, “I told you that it would lead to this...”
“I-I know...” Kuroo whispered “That’s why...I don’t deserve you...or anyone anymore not even (y/n)...she was too good for me and I was the most horrible thing to ever happen to her...”
“You’re exaggerating, you made a mistake, even so, don’t go far by making yourself the victim.” Kenma said, he pulled away from his friend with shocked eyes. “K-Kenma...”
“You know I’m right. We all told you what would happen, now that it has are you still going to stay here and feel sorry for yourself? (Y/n) was the victim here. You should be doing everything in your hands to apologize.”
Kuroo wiped his eyes with his red sleeve, “I-I...understand...a-and I feel horrible for doing that to her. I-I tried stopping it before it went too far...” he admitted, “I-I never...”
He nodded hearing him “Then do it. Realize it and tell her she needs closure just as you do.”
“You’re right,” he mumbled getting off the couch and putting his shoes on. “Wait now?” Kenma asked standing up “I have to I can’t let this go unsaid.” Before he had a chance to say something else Kuroo had already left.
“It’s raining.”
---
“It’ll be fun...she said,” you spoke looking into the mirror as you held the brush in your hand. Many eyeshadow pallets laid in front of you along with bottles of concealer and mascara.
Your friend had the brilliant idea of setting you up on a blind date and left her makeup items so you could get ready. Of course, you protested the idea since you never used them before. Somehow she convinced you and here you were now.
“What is this even for?” your hand poured a little on your hand but instead the (s/c) shade moved between your fingers and spilled on to the floor. You groaned at the frustration and gave up.
“I’m done!” you started to put everything away when your doorbell sounded. “I swear Hiyako I’m going to murder you for not helping me!” you exclaimed walking to the door and opened it. “You are so dead.”
However it wasn’t your friend standing there in the doorway, instead, it was a soaking wet Kuroo. His hair was down flat as the rain seeped through his black hair. “K-Kuroo...” you uttered, he scanned you up and down. You were wearing a dress, you looked beautiful.
“Y-you...um...you look radiant...” he spoke and the corners of your mouth turned down. If it were a different situation you would have felt ecstatic about him complimenting you. “What are you doing here?...”
“I had to see you.” he admitted “Can...I come in?”
“R-right...y-yeah sure...” you stepped aside and let him go in. Kuroo scanned your apartment seeing everything still stayed the same. You went to the closet and grabbed a towel for him. “Here...would you like some tea?”
“No...it’s fine.” he said “Thank you.” and took the towels from you. There was a moment of silence you didn’t know what to say. It has been two weeks since you last saw him, your stomach was filled with butterflies while your heart skipped a beat each millisecond.
“I won’t take much of your time.” you nodded motioning him to continue “I’m sorry.” he began “I-I was an idiot for thinking that cheating on you would make things better. I’m such a dumbass. I-I shouldn’t have done that all I got from it was losing the best girl I’ve ever known.”
A tear began to slip away from your eye you quickly wiped it away. “T-Testuro...i-it’s a little too late now...”
“I know.” he said placing the towel down by the couch “And you have no idea how much I-I regret doing that. I-I tried to stop it from going too far and I was a fucking fool for not stopping it when it began.”
“I don’t think you should even be feeling sorry...y-you never...not even once paid attention to me. I-I tried so hard Tetsuro! And still...” you breathed out fighting the tears and spoke in a shaky voice. “I-it...n-never...w-was enough...”
His feet slowly moved towards you “Don’t...your love and support were enough for me. I was the idiot who blew it all away.”
“W-was I not good for you?...” you asked, “D-did I do something wrong for you to go and be in another women’s arms?”
He closed his eyes feeling the pain you felt right now “You were everything and still are to me.”
“I want to believe your words...” you covered your mouth with your hand swallowing down the sobs. “B-but everything is too much...I can’t hold on to someone and listen to them when they left me with this sting inside of me that won’t ever leave.”
You wanted to run into his arms and forgive him. This was your dream to have him come here and apologize to make everything okay. In reality, it made this a whole lot worse.
“I deserve it...I deserve to be alone but you don’t.” he whispered looking you in the eyes “I wish that I can take away the pain I’ve left inside of you. But I can’t and I will live with that the rest of my life.”
“I want you too...but I don’t wish you bad.” you admitted, “You may have hurt me but I don’t want regret or anger in me anymore Kuroo.”
His eyes widened hearing you say his first name “It’s late to try and fix things but not late for you to start over.”
Kuroo was disappointed and just like Kenma said this was all his fault there was no way he was the victim. A sly smile formed on his lips, “In all of this...I wish you happiness...and if there’s no hope in the future for us both then it’s okay. As an old friend...I want you to feel loved...more than I ever made you feel.”
“Be happy please...” he begged and you nodded slightly biting your lip as you looked down at the floor. “I’ll always love you.” he bends down slightly and presses his cold lips against your warm cheek.
Your skin tingled it made you happy but this wasn’t a reunion it was closing a door for the best. He pulled away and walked to the door. You didn’t speak a word not even made a sound, the door opened and closed...there was officially no trace left of him.
He bit his lip and leaned his head back against the wooden door. “Goodbye baby...” he whispered and stepped into the rain again to make his way back home alone this time.
