Biting your lip you looked down at the message that popped up on your phone screen.
Hey, are you almost here? They just left a few minutes ago.
You couldn’t help but smile as you reread the text, quickly you messaged him back.
I’m about two minutes away. <3
Your head kept turning back every two seconds making sure no one was following you.
Lying wasn’t something you were comfortable with doing often it times it made you feel guilty for blowing off your friends but what else could you do?
You were a teenager living her love life and any chance you could get to see him you’d take it.
Falling for a villain was never on your list of things to do when you enrolled into U.A but it happened.
As you turned the corner to the alleyway you saw him standing there in front of the bar’s backdoor exit.
A smile forming on his lips as he approached you. “I was afraid you weren’t going to come today.”
“Sorry,” you mumbled planting a soft kiss on his lips. “It took longer than I thought it would.”
“What was taking you so long?’ He asked as he wrapped an arm around your waist holding you against his chest.
“The girl’s were talking about planning a sleepover tomorrow and long story short they kept asking for my input on the location and time.”
Dabi held your chin with his index and thumb gently, “First they keep you for awhile and now they’re taking me away from you tomorrow?”
He shook his head in disappointment and pressed his lips against yours.
“I’m starting to feel jealous of them.” He mumbled as he kissed you, “Maybe I should sneak in during the sleepover to see you.”
A blush crept up your cheeks at the thought of him seeing you in your pajamas.
Smirking he said, “So is that’s not a no then?”
Pulling away you shook your head, “Knowing you I know you wouldn’t hesitate to do that.”
“Well when it comes to seeing my favorite girl, why would I?”
You chuckled, “You’re insane, Dabi.”
Smiling he pecked your lips, “Yeah for you, doll.”
It was crazy how the least person you’d ever thought would be the one to make your chest flutter with happiness.
“We should head inside before someone sees us.” You said.
“But I’m too comfortable here,” he groaned burying his face into your neck.
“I am too but we will be safer inside, Dabi.”
A sigh escaped his lips, pulling away he wrapped his arms around your midsection from behind.
“Who else is going to be at the sleepover?” He asked as you both walked inside.
“From what I know it’ll only be us girls but she said she might ask our other classmates.”
“So there’s going to be guys too?...”
You placed your bag down on the floor next to you, “They’re just going to be friends most likely from the same classroom.”
“Great guys your age.” Dabi muttered as you both sat down on the couch, his arms still wrapped around you.
You leaned in holding the left side of his face, “You know I only have eyes for you right?”
“You better.” Dabi joked, “Or else I’m not afraid to challenge them.”
“You’d go that far for me?”
A blush crept up his cheeks, suddenly feeling shy to meet your gaze.
Looking at him in the eyes you softly smiled, "You never cease to amaze me sometimes."
Dabi didn't say anything only looked at you back with adoration. His hand going up and caressing the side of your face with gentleness.
"I'll make sure to keep surprising you."
The smile rested on your lips as you spoke, "How much time do we have left before they get back?"
"Probably around," he lifted his gaze off from you towards the clock behind the bar counter. "Four hours."
"I'm surprised you didn't go usually they always ask for you to accompany them."
He shrugged resting his head on your shoulder. "I told him I was tired and didn't feel like going not like they needed me this time anyways."
You scratch lightly the back of his head. "Honestly... I'm kinda glad you said no."
Your cheeks turned a light pink, "I like spending time with you ... especially like this. When you're not around for days... I miss you."
A small smile formed on his lips as he replayed your words in his head.
It was difficult for him to be vulnerable although he trusted you so much and never felt this comfortable with anyone, he still had a hard time saying what he felt.
"I know you have a hard time saying what you feel." You said, "I understand so I don't want you to feel pressured to say things like that. I can tell how you feel about me with the way you act towards me."
"I got lucky..." He mumbled placing his hand on top of yours and intertwining your fingers together.
You gave his hand a loving squeeze smiling down at him.
"I'm really hating how they give you so much work to do." Dabi mumbled as he looked over your shoulder seeing the endless papers spread around the mini table.
"Trust me I sometimes hate it too." You chuckled "But I have to finish it or else I won't be able to pass on to the next grade."
"Yeah but can't they not go over board?" He questioned, "Summer is already around the corner."
"They're final exams not much different from junior high." You said biting your lower lip in concentration.
"Still they've changed the rules I see." A sigh escaped from his lips, "At least I'll be able to be around you during vacation."
"Oh yeah? Where would we go?"
Resting his chin on your shoulder he began to think. "How about we go to an aquarium it's not that far away from here. Or we can always have a date at the park."
"I've haven't been to an aquarium in a long time." Turning your head you looked at him, a smile forming on your lips. "I'd love to go with you."
"Yeah?" Dabi said softly smiling, as he stared into those beautiful big eyes he loved seeing. "We can go next Saturday, I don't have anything planned."
"Oh that's right." You mumbled looking away.
"What is it?" He asked slightly pulling away.
"I'm going to the training camp this weekend for a week. I forgot to tell you."
"Where... is it going to be at?"
You shrugged, "I'm not sure, we only got told that if we pass the exam we'd go."
"I see..." Dabi mumbled looking away, "Do you... have to pass?"
"Dabi... as much as I would rather stay with you I have to pass that exam."
"I can train you instead."
"I appreciate you trying to help me," you leaned in closer to him and pecked his lips. "But I need to improve my quirk and the pros there will be able to help me."
"Then what's the matter?"
"I―" he paused trying to gather the words he was trying to say. "I... won't be there to help you... if something were to happen to you."
"You're concerned about my safety?..."
"Yeah I am..." His hands rested on your hips, "As much as heroes will be there to protect you guys... sometimes things happen and―"
You frowned, "Hey... nothing bad is going to happen okay?"
"Dabi." You wrapped your arms around his neck, pulling him into you. "I'm going to be okay, nothing is going to happen. I'll be back before you know it."
He closed his eyes resting the side of his face on your shoulder, his grip tightening. A sudden feeling of worry and fear ran through him a thought of losing you.
Past him wouldn't care if another person in his life died, he never got close to anyone. All he did was pass through life alone as much as possible.
But when you showed up something instantly attracted him towards you. Since then he never stopped thinking about you, always followed you around from afar making sure you were safe.
Something within him said he needed to convince you to stay. It wasn't a coincidence that the league had a plan to attack a part of the forest and knowing now you told him, it made sense.
If he saw you hurt because of his actions he wouldn't ever be able to forgive himself for putting you in harms way.
"I―I don't want... to lose you, Y/n." He whispered. "I can't lose you."
Your eyes turned glossy as you heard him say what he was feeling for the first time.
"I don't want to lose you either, Dabi."
"Don't go." Dabi pleaded, "You can tell them you're sick―"
"I'll be okay." You reassured him, "Nothing bad is going to happen. The pros are going to be there and they're going to keep us safe."
All he can do is pray and hope that someone heard him.
They're not pushing you too hard are they?
You shook your head, smiling to yourself as you read his worry filled texts.
"Oh who's got you smiling?" Mina asked as she approached you.
"No one." You quickly said. "I was reading a text that my sister sent me."
"Hmmm, somehow I want to believe you but at the same times I don't."
Chuckling you started to walk towards the rest of the group with Mina by your side.
"She was telling me about a boy she saw on the train." You explained trying to hide the smile on your face. "And decided to talk to him."
"Yeah, she fell for him right away." You smiled. "Might even think about asking him on a date."
"Wow she's confident," She pouted. "I wish I was that way whenever I saw a cute guy."
"It's hard but you should I'm sure anyone would say yes to you." You grinned pointing with your eyes towards Kirishima.
Her face turned a bright red, shaking her head in denial.
Before she was able to say anything else, Ragdoll then spoke.
"Alright, we filled our tummies and cleaned the dishes!" She exclaimed. "Now it's time for the test of courage!"
"I'm so excited! I've been waiting all day to do something fun." Mina widely smiled.
"Each of you will be put with a random partner and walk through the forest. Class B will be the scarers and you'll try not to get scared easily or you'll loose."
"Do we have to choose random pairs?!" Bakugo yelled. "I shouldn't get stuck with icy hot!"
"Bakugo it's just a walk, calm down." Todoroki said.
"Shut up! Out of everyone here it just so happened to be with you."
"Calm down, Bakugo." Mina rolled her eyes, "Just walk through quickly and it'll be over soon."
"Alright, Bakugo and Todoroki you're up!" Ragdoll yelled.
The both of them then went up first before you two. You took this time to quickly answer him back.
Right now we're doing any activity after training so hard
But no surprise, he answered not even a second after you sent him the message.
A feeling of warmth formed in your chest at the thought of seeing him again soon.
I miss you too, only three more days <3
"Ashido, L/n!" Ragdoll yelled. "You're up next!"
She nodded hesitantly, "Alright... might as well get over it. You better not leave my side if you get scared though!"
Chuckling you walked into the forest together. "I wouldn't even dream of it."
There were screams being heard left and right, but you knew they weren't from Class A.
Luckily it wasn't too dark thanks to the moon that shines bright in the sky, making the path visible.
"We should have that sleepover after getting back from camp." Mina mentioned.
"Agree, it'll be easier to do now without all the testing―"
"What's that?" She asked pointing at the trees.
Turning your head, your heart stopped beating.
Those were flames getting stronger by the minute, but they weren't any kind.
And you knew who the only person who possessed those flames was.
"Oh, look we have guests!" The villain with a full covered masked face spoke. "What should we do Dabi?"
Dabi turned his face, eyes slightly widening as he saw you standing there.
"Go and see if you can find that kid." He said.
"What will you do?" The villain asked.
"Just go, I'll be right behind you."
"Mina." You turned to look at her, "You need to leave."
"W―What about you?! I can't leave you here alone!"
"Go!" You exclaimed, "I can slow him down with my quirk. You need to go and warn the teachers and warn anyone else about the fire."
"I can't just leave you here―"
Mina hesitated, she knew you were strong but leaving you alone... she'd never be able to forgive herself if something happened.
"Okay." She said and trusted you hoping that you knew what you were doing. "I'll be back as soon as possible with help!"
You nodded, waiting for her to be far enough before you turned to look at him.
"What are you doing here?" You asked walking over to him. "I thought you were off doing a job somewhere else―"
"I was." He said. "I didn't think Shigaraki meant here."
You didn't know whether to believe him or not. Dabi was always honest with you but seeing him here made you feel confused.
"Hey... I didn't use you alright?"
He went to touch you but you moved back without realizing it.
"I told you I was coming to camp... and who would be there and how many pros."
"That doesn't mean I would ever use you this way and you know it." He stated as you looked away from his gaze. "I didn't have a clue that you were going to be here in this exact location."
But then something clicked in you as you began to recall your conversation the way he was worried about you.
"Are you telling me the truth?" You questioned looking at him, "As soon as I mentioned it you started to worry about my safety knowing well I can always handle my own ground. You never worried as much as you did that day."
Dabi looked away, his hand forming into a fist.
Tears started to form in your eyes, "You knew there was a possibility that they'd attack here didn't you?"
Pushed him back with all the strength you had, moving his body slightly backwards.
"Didn't you?!" You exclaimed. "It clicked in you that they were attacking and you stayed quiet?! Knowing that my safety along with my friends and teachers was on the line."
"What the hell else was I supposed to do?" He retorted raising his voice. "You couldn't exactly go out and about tell the police about what was going to happen without them questioning you! If you had told your teachers it would have been the same."
Looking straight in the eyes, he continued. "Or what is that what you wanted? For us to get caught and for this to end?!"
"Y―You know that's something I don't want to happen!"
"It's not? Because you pointing fingers at me and questioning my feelings for being worried about your safety, is saying it all."
Running your fingers through your hair you stepped back.
He sighed, "The league doesn't care about anyone getting hurt... and you know that. I only had an idea of it happening... that's why I wanted to convince you to not come."
"You should have just been honest..."
"Let's face it doll," he continued. "If I have been you still would have gone. I know you wouldn't hesitate to jump into danger to protect them. That's why I got worried about your safety. They're going to do anything to get what they need and knowing that made me feel scared that you'll get caught in the cross fire."
A tear rolled down your cheek.
Every bone inside of you knew that he was telling the truth, there wasn't nothing malicious about his actions.
He kept quiet to protect you but in the end it only made both of your fears come true.
"I'm sorry..." you mumbled activating your quirk as you looked down at the ground. "I didn't want this moment to come but we both know it was going to happen..."
Shaking your head you looked at him with red eyes, "God damn I love you Dabi." You confessed catching him off guard, "But I can't let you get passed me... I'm a hero in training and I need to stop anyone that has the intention of harming someone."
"You really wanna do this?"
"I don't," you swallowed down hard. "But I need to."
"I don't want to hurt you, Y/n." He said activating his blue flames. "We can always figure something else out."
"Sooner or later we would have to do this and unfortunately we ran out of time."
Without warning you ran towards him as your hand formed a ray of red and orange light.
Dabi moved out of the way just in time to avoid your attack.
Frustration began forming within you as he dodged you every time, barely even trying to touch you.
"Why are you running away?!" You exclaimed forming small balls of energy and throwing them at him.
He jumped back as you got closer, "I told you. I'm not going to hurt you!"
You cried out, "Fight back, damn it!"
An ache grew in his chest seeing how destroyed you were.
"Damn it." He mumbled feeling himself getting emotional as well.
In between the crying and using your quirk, your body became exhausted. Your legs became weak and you landed on your knees.
You could feel the cold dirt underneath your skin but you didn't care. Sobs escaped from within you.
He kneeled down on one knee, placing his hand on your cheek.
"Get away from her!" A voice yelled out as a wall of ice formed in between you two.
At the same time an explosion could be heard, as you lifted your head you saw Dabi getting hit by it. His back hit against one of the tress, and fell onto the ground.
Your eyes widened, "Dabi..."
"Are you alright?" Todoroki asked looking at you.
"Who the hell is that much of an idiot to talk with a villain?!" Bakugo exclaimed.
Slowly you stood up, your eyes not leaving Dabi.
"Where the hell did racoon eyes go?" Bakugo asked.
"I told her to leave and warn the others." You answered. "I hope she was able to help them."
A loud sound could be heard coming from behind you, Shoji was screaming along with Midoriya. They were running away from another villain that had spider like legs but made out of iron.
"We need your light!" Shoji exclaimed.
At that same time Dabi slowly stood up holding his side, seeing how you were helping out one of your classmates.
You didn't know what was going on, you were physically present but mentally it felt as if you were somewhere else.
Your head kept turning back as the villain approached you three, but Dabi had a different plan in mind.
He went forward and started fighting against Bakugo, with his flames. Todoroki tried to stay focused on helping Shoji to calm down Dark Shadow along with you.
The villain showed up and began attacking everyone with it's sharp like teeth. Then Uraraka and Tsu showed up along with another classmate that was passed out.
Mr. Aizawa and Tiger showed up all of a sudden as well, trying to tame down the villain.
Your body froze as you saw the chaos in front of you unfold. Seeing as your friends and classmates fight to put those villains down, using their quick to it's fullest potential.
Meanwhile Dabi's body was taking too much damage even beads of sweat started to drip down the side of his head.
"Stay down!" Mr. Aizawa yelled as he ables to finally use his bandages to hold him in place.
Dabi looked over at you, giving you a tired smile but you could see the pain in his eyes.
"I'm sorry." He mouthed at you.
Something within you told you needed to choose now. That you couldn't waste another second thinking about it.
It's true what they say, love makes you do crazy things.
Activating your quirk, you formed the brightest ball of energy you could. Making sure everyone was distracted you raised your arm in the air and threw the ball up in the air, blinding everyone.
Quickly you took it as an opportunity to run to Dabi's side and catching him.
"I―I should be the one saving you." He said.
Shaking your head you wrapped your arm around his waist and his arm around your neck, holding him up.
"Maybe you can do that next time."
"Are you sure?" Dabi asked.
You nodded, "I can always keep training to get stronger but I wouldn't ever be able to live with regret if I don't chose you right now."
He closed his eyes, resting his forehead against yours.
"I love you, doll..." He whispered.
A small smile formed on your lips, "I love you too... now let's get out of here yeah?"
Worry didn't cross your minds at that moment all you were relieved about was knowing you two were alive and together just like how you always wanted.
