Maybe it's just because of Tumblr/Facebook/Twitter, but I feel like way too many people are expecting Matt Flynn to be the Packers' savior until Aaron Rodgers is back.
Flynn was cut from three teams for a reason. I love the guy, but last week he was cut from the Bills in favor of an undrafted rookie QB. Supposedly there's an issue with Flynn's throwing elbow.
If the Packers really thought Flynn was better than Scott Tolzien or Seneca Wallace, they would have signed him the day after the Bears' game and had him start against the Eagles. Unless Tolzien is just terrible, I'm fully expecting him to be the starter until Rodgers returns.
So the Packers....
What can I say about the game? I would like to rant and issue blame but honestly it is what it is. Our back up goes down and we depend on our third string QB who was barely activated to the main roster. Tolzien played a hell of game and honestly should probably be our back in lieu of Seneca Wallace. Our defence has played better overall this season but needs to keep consistent especially in the 4th quarter.
Don't get me wrong I am on the Matt Flynn bandwagon. I would love to see the Packers pick him back up. But after what I saw today with Scott Tolzien I'm not in a hurry to see them just run forward putting all our eggs in the Matt Flynn basket.
I would love to see what Tolzien can do with McCarthy working with him this week.
Also I read the NFL.com article in which Ted Thompson admits the issue with our lack luster backup QB position is solely his fault and I agree. I understand no matter what you can't replace an Aaron Rodgers but to totally disregard the backup spot is horrible management. we had a good backup in Vince Young and yet he was cut loose. And also what about B.J Coleman. Thompson dropped the ball on that one.
But no matter what I still bleed Green and Gold. I will still cheer on my Pack through better or worse, injury or health, wins and losses, til i am watching them on that great big screen in the sky.
GO PACK GO
Matt Flynn has a workout with the Packers tomorrow (Monday). It was scheduled before Seneca Wallace even got hurt Sunday.
The Packers are in a “week-to-week mindset” with QB Aaron Rodgers’ injury, according to Head Coach Mike McCarthy in a Tuesday afternoon press conference. Rodgers suffered a fracture to the clavicle in the first series of the game when his left shoulder was driven into the ground on a sack by Bears DE Shea McClellin.
McCarthy said the doctors felt much better about the situation on Tuesday, after gathering more information on the injury.
In Rodgers’ potential absence, Seneca Wallace figures to be the starter heading into Sunday’s Week 10 contest with the Philadelphia Eagles at Lambeau Field.
“We’re preparing Seneca Wallace and getting him ready to be the starter,” McCarthy said. “I have all the confidence in the world in Seneca.”
“This is a great opportunity for our football team to show its mettle.”
The Packers head back to the practice field Wednesday afternoon.
