DRAGON THERMAL SOLUTIONS "DTS" for short. :D Logo and team name I came up with for my Senior Design project. Thankfully, I have an awesome partner who thought this was great. Out project? A heat exchanger, of course, which (if I do say so myself) is nicely represented in the logo. Engineers can art too! :3
Speaking of science, allow me to introduce you to UT Arlington's first ever heavyweight combat robot, Cavalier. Cavalier will be competing at RoboGames on April 21-23, and the if BattleBots on ABC ever gets renewed, her big sister Reckless will be an applicant. Cavalier features two opposing horizontal drum spinners with S7 tool steel teeth, a split traction-mecanum butterfly drive for strafing capabilities balanced with the ability to charge at top speed, a self righting mechanism that can double as lifters or roof armor, and a beefy rear deflector panel for ramming into other spinners and can be flipped upside down to resist vertical drum spinner attacks. She is currently just over the 220 pound weight limit, but we're popping holes in the frame based on analysis software to get under the limit without reducing our structural integrity. Cavalier will be one of the first generation of heavyweight champion robots to utilize Arduino-type microcontrollers and Xbee radios instead of older RC components and will be driven with a custom controller designed by fellow UT Arlington computer science student Chris Collander (/u/cmcollander on Reddit). We are relying entirely on sponsors and donations to build this robot.
