crying because one of my bunny's eyes is getting cloudy and I have to deal with the fact he's somewhere between 6–8 years old and not 1 anymore. my baby is getting old 🥹

nearly six years old and will cross the rainbow bridge tomorrow. Penny's been eating less bunny hay every day these last few weeks but his hunger for pellets have been unmatched. hHis pee has become musty, his kidneys are failing him. He doesn't always pee in his litter box because of it.

He's become high maintenance. His prior infections are gone and he looks at his best.

gave him a couple helpings of pellets today and a big stash of hay that he's eaten some of. old hay from this morning and this afternoon.

there are still some pellets from that still there and he's slowly eating it including the hay.

penny won't be gone after tomorrow. He'll still be here in my google photos and this site. I can always get to look at him and his eyes from time to time.

Caring for senior buns - change comes with the territory!

Aspen’s litter box habits have been declining the past few weeks - and since she’s eight years old(well into old age for a rabbit of her breed), she’ll be going to the vet to investigate any medical reason for that fairly soon. But in the meantime, since my suspicion is arthritis, here she is with her new adaptive box, the low side cut less than an inch high so she can get in and out without pain.

So far, it’s been installed for less than an hour and she loves it - she’s already been in it more than she was in her regular one the whole week, so that definitely adds to my suspicions. Will keep you guys updated!
