In all honesty, Fitz hadn’t been expecting a response like that. Part of it had just been a throwaway comment, with a hint of hope underneath that he thought hadn’t even been audible. Of course, as soon as he felt the kiss, the idea of joking about it went out of his head, and everything else was automatic. He brought his hands up to broad shoulders, giving a tug to the supportive straps of the tactical gear so that the kiss would be more than just the chaste, tentative thing it started out as.
