a year later and i am once again back at the peak of my brainrot with another new fandom: heated rivalry !!!

predictably, i have binged all five episodes in one sitting and have re-watched them again for the sake of depleting my sanity all the more, and am now fully invested in world-building in this universe. insofar as characters are concerned, i am looking to either write ilya or shane, or a kip with a scott.

while i no longer write on tumblr, i am actively trying to get back into the habit of of doing so on discord, where i am primarily more active. here are some specs to go over:

1. i'm 25+ and have more than 15 years of roleplaying experience across multiple platforms and fandoms. likewise, I’m hoping to write with someone of the same age.

2. i write in mostly advance casual lit/novella style, with a priority for quality over quantity. that said, i have been known to encroach the character limits on discord every now and then, if the muse happens to have more to say.

3. i'm big on rich, vivid world-building and meaningful character development, so a partner who can match that energy would be greatly appreciated.

4. i'm trigger free and nsfw friendly, but prefer to go into mature themes with more mindful intent.

it   was   almost   comical,      how   stephen   jolted   from   where   he   sat   reading   in   his   study      ——      lukewarm   tea   SPLASHING   onto   his   front   as   he   jumped   to   his   feet,      swearing   when   something   heavy   simply   appeared   within.      the   sorcerer   was   poised   for   combat,      mismatched   eyes   flaring   to   a   bright   orange   as   he   narrowed   his   gaze,      hands   raised   into   a   familiar   stance..   

only   to   pause,      hearing   a   familiar   tone   of   voice.      the   orange   faded   from   his   visage   as   he   tilted   his   head,      openly   gaping   in   DISBELIEF   when   he   saw   none   other   than   his   tony   sitting   crumpled   upon   the   ruins   of   his   wooden   floors.      after   standing   there   for   what   was   likely   too-long,      he   abruptly   began   moving,      healing,      repairing      ——      anything   to   try   and   solve   whatever   it   was   that   just   happened.

“      tony..      what   in   the   hell   happened   ?      how      ——      why   ——      ”      he   sputtered,      moving   to   help   the   other   man   to   his   feet.      “      what   in   the   VISHANTI’S   NAME   are   you   doing   here   ?   ?”

not exactly how he planned on making a grand entrance, but it’ll have to do. there’s none of the fanfare, none of the gauche showmanship here precluding the way that one gauntlet thunks! onto woodchips, providing just enough leverage for tony to push himself up to kneel. 

the density of his suit’s upholstery in all of its sweat-absorbent and ballistics-resistant wonder has served to its calling relatively well, and while he does anticipate bruises down his side in angry splotches, it wouldn’t be anything he can’t shrug off with a whiskey. and judging by the state of affairs he found himself embroiled in now, he might need a few of those. 

there’s a brief moment of muddled disorientation from the shock of impact, but as the azure tint of his HUD emerges clear from its static, so does his lucidity, ushered into the otherworldly expanse of--

the sanctum? strange’s sanctum?

he’d recognise that parquet even if he were left three sheets to the wind. and he isn’t. dead sober, he glances over his shoulder, seeking out for where the voice had called to him as his faceplate folds with a precise, methodical precision into the recesses of his helmet. what was that amusement park joyride for then? 

“what, you’re too good for limos now? you’re just gonna pluck me out of mach 1 willy nilly when you feel like it? the hell you mean what am i doing here. 

this is YOUR place! you tell me, doc brown!”

“you know…” you’ll hear him before you see him leaning in, an elbow resting against a glossy vitrine, presumptuous and unapologetically invasive from where he now stands too close. tony stark cuts a conspicuous figure in one of the many stores his consumer electronics division franchises. “…it works better if you turn it on. though, if you’re looking for a centerpiece, that would work fine too.”              @starkindustrics​​

𝐄𝐃𝐃𝐈𝐄'𝐒  𝐓𝐄𝐂𝐇𝐍𝐈𝐂𝐀𝐋𝐋𝐘  𝐇𝐄𝐑𝐄  𝐎𝐍  𝐓𝐇𝐄  𝐉𝐎𝐁.  The  day-job  part,  not  the  alien-vigilanteism-by-night  job,  but  sometimes  it  seems  like  the  two  fold  into  each  other  remarkably  well.

Not  today,  though.  Today,  he’s  just  here  in  a  casual  sort’ve  way,  leather  street  jacket  half-zipped.  He  likes  to  check  out  these  things;  sustainability  in  technology,  especially  when  it  comes  to  claims  made  by  new  greener  tech,  is  one’ve  those  things  that  sparks  his  journalistic  curiosity.  It’s  gotten  him  in  trouble,  before  ——  y'know,  by  working  those  claims  to  the  bone  until  he  finds  a  hole.

Lots’ve  big  corporations  don’t  like  him.  He’s  okay  with  that.

He’s  a  smart  guy.  He  knows  his  way  around  technology  well  enough  ——  which  is  why  he’s  a  little  baffled  that  he  can’t  get  a  clear  idea  of  what  this  display  does.  He’s  squinting  at  it  when  the  voice  sidles  up  beside  him  ——  he’s  a  little  surprised,  sure,  brows  lifting  with  a  quick  pull  of  a  wry  grin.

His  other’s  bored,  and  they  chew  at  the  words  in  his  skull  with  a  rumble,  roll  in  his  chest  like  the  long-suffering.  【  𝙲𝙴𝙽𝚃𝙴𝚁𝙿𝙸𝙴𝙲𝙴  𝙸𝙽  𝙰  𝚆𝙴𝙸𝚁𝙳  𝚁𝙾𝙱𝙾𝚃  𝙷𝙾𝚄𝚂𝙴.  】  Their  grouse  is  pissy  enough  to  make  him  laugh  a  little,  though  he  hides  it  with  a  shake  of  his  head.  ❝  Nah,  nah,  man,  I  think  this’d,  uh,  clash  with  my  aesthetic.  ❞  The  last  word’s  drawled  off  the  tongue  with  a  touch  of  bachelor  humor,  and  he  angles  a  look  sideways.  ❝  What’s  it  do,  anyhow?  ❞

he looks familiar, somehow. the ghost of a memory eludes tony’s inquisitive seeking, like the flutter of a sprite between foliage that leaves one to wonder if they had really seen it at all. names and faces are fickle things that lollygag too briefly to occupy much interest in his mind’s eye, preferring instead to ruminate on greater, grander machinations, the sort that headlines would describe in laughable superlatives if and when he does see to a breakthrough. 

probably why, try as he might, tony stark isn’t truly the most consummate host without the cues of a maestro to take after. an unenviable role that pepper potts admirably takes up, much to their in-house PR director’s relief. but this lacks the pretext of a throwaway interaction induced by champagne-addled courage. 

how absolutely irritating to dance around a name you’ve forgotten while acutely sober. but the tight line of that mouth does soften into a smile as tony moves a hand over the span of the clear pane, triggering receptors over a proximity layer that signal to its processing unit. 

translucent specks surface from the bottom of the glass, forming fine grains that coalesce before climbing and gathering upwards to form a vertical display suspended in the air. 

“contextual gestures. and--” he shrugs in the direction of the news broadcast on the opaque expanse of digital tapestry. “--our first commercially available holographic display panel.” 

hopefully, that’s enough razzle dazzle to inspire some awe. enough time to inspect, if not surreptitiously marvel, at the rugged, weathered charm that this man wears so unabashedly with his unkempt stubble and lips chapped from an approaching winter front. 

he has kind eyes. wonder how he held on to that.
