      when her and lara jean were close, gen always DID take kindly to kitty. even though she was younger than the two --- gen did GENUINELY enjoy having kitty around. although she’d never admit it, at the time, it felt like kitty was the little sister genevieve never had.        but in the aftermath of their fight, she never actually THOUGHT of how the fallout would affect the youngest covey. and really, this was the first time she’d actually SEEN her ever since. keeping up her cold facade, her arms are crossed, eyes scanning the little one,                ❝     what?    ❞

     the covey girls were ALL important to josh in different ways. margot and lara jean’s ways were... SELF EXPLANATORY, to say the least, but then there was kitty. katherine covey. he felt more PROTECTIVE of her than he’d really acknowledge. perhaps it was because he saw how much MARGOT cared for kitty --- acted like her mom. so he wanted to follow in those footsteps. and since their dad was so busy -- he just wanted to be there for her when dr. covey couldn’t be.        he’s outside working on his car, but stops when he sees the youngest of the three approaching. a smile lights up, rag now slung over his shoulder.               ❝    little covey! what’s going on?   ❞

     “kitty, was there really a dinner emergency that needed you out of the house, or did you just want me to take you to get a milkshake. i’m not gonna be mad, but like, pretty sure lara jean’s chicken isn’t going to ‘literally kill you’.”
