Lestat is the parent that hurts their child because they were hurt and it's really about them and their relationship with the other parent (Louis)
whereas Louis is the parent who holds the child too closely to protect them, stunting their growth, having a hard time with the inevitable similarities between the other parent (Lestat) and the child, and using their superior closeness to the child as an unintentional weapon against the other parent.
