Send 'Separate Ways' for my muse's reaction to yours proclaiming that they will be safer and better off without them.
Erik froze, the metal he'd been molding to clear his mind falling to the floor with a series of clangs, entirely without grace. From his seated position, he opened his eyes and looked up at her, taking in her appearance. She'd shifted back into her human form and there was a bag slung over her shoulder. Already prepared to leave.
You knew this day would come, Erik. In the end, everyone leaves.
The voice in the back of his head sounded suspiciously like Shaw, but he pushed it away. It only came to him in his darkest moments now, and he wouldn't let it cloud his judgment. He would not react to Raven's words with anger.
Instead, a sad smile spread across his face as he stood, "You're probably right. No one is safe with me around, not from the humans and not from my own outbursts. But you? No matter where you go, you will adapt and you will thrive. I don't know how you managed to let me hold you down for this long."
His voice struggled to remain even, but anyone who knew him could see the pain in his posture, and in the way that the metal surfaces around him had begun to vibrate and buckle, warped by the twists and turns of his emotions.
"But you can't be reckless, Raven. I made your brother a promise, that I would take care of you. And if I can't, I want to at least know that you will take care of yourself. Don't do anything I would do. Be smart, and trust your instincts."
The metal piece on the floor, which had been a cube moments earlier, transformed into a rose and came to float before her.
"And know that should you ever need anything, I will be there."
