Separated Who?
Hey, this is Jazz, and welcome to my side blog for my long-running fic “NEON – A Separated Siblings AU”! It’s my love letter to Rise of the TMNT and retells the series’ events from Leo’s very own flavored viewpoint. The only difference: He grew up with Draxum and for a long time believed there was no one out there like him. When he meets his long-lost ‘family’, chaos ensues, and Leo finds himself caught between warring factions and while trying to trick and lie his way into all of them, he starts to question his own place in the world.

Leo’s AU Design Leo’s description for this AU is vague on purpose, so you can imagine him pretty much any way you like. The only constant visual markers are his two scars. One that he had since he was 12 that runs through his left eyelid and starting from chapter 10, he got another diagonal scar right under the left eye. His plastron is chipped, and he is a pretty roughed-up fellow. He got a blue scarf from Draxum once as a gift and doesn’t wear a bandana until...well...for more info, you’ll have to read the story ;) If you want some inspiration take a look at this incredible fanart from different parts of the fic (beware of spoilers!)

That moment when you realize everything isn’t as it once seemed
Okay I’ve put off sharing the sep!au for too long already so- here’s some of what I have.
(details aren’t set in stone yet, I can’t decide whether to make draxum nicer or not these are just ideas)
SEP AU CAUSE IM OBSESSED
in this AU splints gets thrown back by the lab explosion, causing him to drop two of the four turtles he held in his arms. As he clutches raph and Donnie to his chest, drax emerges from the smoke, grabs the other two n vanishes. Yoshi looks around for a bit but eventually retreats, too injured to continue any search for his missing sons. He continues into the alleyway like in the show, only with just the snapper and soft shell rather than all four. Drax runs off with his two further into the hidden city, and hides away from the public for a long time with his two, leo and Mikey. They train and learn to fight. As they get older, he only grows more bitter about his pick of the lot. He constantly tells them how much better it could’ve been if he’d gotten the other two, an alligator slapping turtle, known for its strength and durability, and a spiny softshell, known for its aggression. Rather than two standard pets. This causes leo and Mikey to slightly resent their older brothers, having being compared to them so often- despite never having met them.
Eventually draxum calls it a quits, and gives the boys to big mama, where the kiddos are used as her champions in the battle nexus- dubbed the disastrous duo, as you have ti fight them both at the same time if you are to take their trophy. The kids, having been trained since babies, hold onto the top for years to come. Big mama dotes on them much more than Drax, but it’s still in a manipulative trade-off kind of way. If they do well in their tournaments, they receive attention and perhaps some gifts and new armour. Mikey and leo are very clingy to one another, even after the other boys bring them home. They almost move as a unit.
Tl;dr: Splinter accidentally loses leo and Mikey as he escapes draxum, they get raised by draxum for a bit and then end up with big mama, where she trains them in the battle nexus as her champions.

Chapter 26 “One Way Ticket to Hell” is out now! Conceptualising the chapter was a beast. I wanted to set many chess pieces that would pay off as the chapter progresses but also some that set things in motion for later events. I hope it didn’t turn out too confusing and is despite it’s rather dark contents, an enjoyable read.
