we talk a lot about grief in the vein of classic f1 through fathers and sons and some friendships, but i think there are some drivers who are overlooked in those terms. we talk about jackie stewart and alain prost and damon hill but what about jacky ickx, who watched his title rival die, his friend françois cevert, and his friend ronnie peterson. what about james hunt, who was so guilty over ronnie’s death that he took it out on riccardo patrese and hated him for the rest of his life. what about jody scheckter, who found cevert’s body, who was close with peterson, who is one of very few remaining drivers of his generation as they all age
