IV fluids

High flow oxygen

Sepsis Six

Sepsis is amongst the top 10 leading causes of death.

To prevent mortality it is important to act fast.

Within the first hour you must act upon the Sepsis Six:

High flow oxygen - 15L/min, non-rebreathe mask

Blood cultures - must be done before ABx give

Broad spectrum antibiotics - see local policy for which

IV fluid - Hartmann’s preferred

Measure Lactate - (normal <2, if > 4 repeat - worse prognosis)

Catheterise - monitor urine output
