MONTHLY FAVES: September

I’m gonna be honest, I always find myself scrolling through beautyMNL, sephora, checking out second-hand shops on instagram, zalora and just constantly wanting to buy something I don’t really need. So I thought why not make a monthly faves post? This is where i’ll share my favorite beauty products, accessories, and clothing - yup just like a haul. I’ll also be sharing some shopping tips and tricks (where to score cheaper clothes etc) So here goes my September faves!

tasseled hoop earrings - i’ll let you in a little secret, this sells for about Php 100-300 on instagram shops but I got this in Divisoria for Php 35. I don’t exactly remember where and what stall but if it’s not in 999, it’s probably in 168! It’s 65 a piece but if you buy 6 or more, you get it for 35! This is my favorite out of all the earrings I got, I wear it every time I wanna feel extra. Heeh.

hoop earrings - I lost my favorite hoop earrings (which I also got in Divi for Php 50) during a night out with friends so I got myself another one in UP Town. I don’t exactly remember what brand, and it really doesn’t matter since you can find these kind of earrings everywhere! It’s my go-to earrings, always adds a little oomph to every outfit.

blush brush - another secret: I almost never buy branded make up brushes. I buy almost all of my brushes in Divisoria. There’s a particular stall in Divi, it’s called Gladking and if i’m not mistaken, they produce their own brushes. They also have fake brushes and I don’t wanna own those so I buy their unbranded brushes instead. Their powder, kabuki, blush, & contour brushes only cost Php 150! Their eye make-up brushes are only Php 50. So if you a cheap-ass like me,  get yourself some gladking goodness. Trust me, they work just fine.

canmake pressed powder - (okay it’s actually marshmallow finish powder based on their website haha) I got this as a bday gift from Nisa. (She modeled for the brand) I’ve had this since July but i’ve been using it now more than ever. I used to carry a loose powder and a brush with me before for touch ups but I get too lazy to use it, which makes this product perfect for me. The powder comes with a mirror and a powder puff so it’s handy for touch-ups! ALSO makes my face very matte (i’m oily af) so it works for meeee! 

eight mermaid swimwear - a.k.a my favorite swimwear brand. I got one for my birthday too (for a swimwear it’s too expensive for me so I handed Jimbo my money so he can purchase it for me hahahaha) but this! this was a lucky purchase! Haha! I follow their model and she sold this pair (which she only used for the shoot) so I got this for half the price. 

Oppo A57 - So I got this phone last last week and i’m not exaggerating when I say I was blown away with its camera. It has a 13 megapixel rear camera and a 16 megapixel front-facing camera (perfect for vain people like me YAY)!!! I loved the camera so much I prefered using it than my iPhone for my La Union trip! W7 glowcomotion highlighter - okay last but definitely not the least! I AM OBSESSED WITH THIS HIGHLIGHTER! So I was scrolling through BeautyMNL’s anniversary sale and I came across this brand and this particular product. I searched it on youtube to watch reviews and TADAH! I found out it’s a Mary-Lou manizer (a.k.a my favorite highlighter, a.k.a the one I usually steal from my sister whenever she’s not around) dupe! AND I LOVE IIIIT! It’s originally Php 449 but I got it for Php 337. I love this because the highlighter I always use before has this strong yellow undertone. This one, however, it feels and looks like it’s just part of your skin. It’s so natural, I love it. (you can probably tell due to the excessive exclamation marks)

Monthly Favorites: September 2017

How is September over?! This month has flown by. But this means that it’s finally FALL! Call me basic, but I love it. Maybe because I’m an October baby? Who knows, I love the leaves changing colors, the fashion, the tea (even more tea than usual) and HALLOWEEN. Although Halloween isn’t really celebrated here in Holland, I love the idea of it and adore a good Halloween movie!

But before we talk about all things Fall, let’s talk about my favorite things from September!

Music

Dusk Till Dawn - ZAYN (feat. Sia) Now I’m not the biggest Zayn fan. Although I love Cruel and Still Got Time! But a new one has been added and it is this one! I’m in love with this song. It’s a pretty chilled out one. Zayn his vocals are amazing, Sia adds a nice touch to the song and don’t even get me started on the chorus! Usually, the chorus is one of my least favorites parts in a song, but this chorus really stood out. I don’t really know how to describe it, I just instantly loved it. This is such a perfect song for autumn! Tell Me You Love Me (Album) - Demi Lovato My favorite is back with a brand new album. After listening to it twice, I have to say it. This might be her best album yet. It just has everything I love about Demi. You have absolute jams and really emotional songs. You can really hear how much she has grown and I’m so proud! I really hope she is FINALLY doing a full European tour, we have been waiting. My favorites right now are: Tell Me You Love Me, Sexy Dirty Love, Daddy Issues, Only Forever, Lonely and Hitchhiker. One Last Time - Hamilton (Original Broadway Cast Recording) If you know me, you know how much I love Hamilton. But that doesn’t mean I can’t excited over new gems that I haven’t paid much attention to in the past. One Last Time is one of those gems. I watched the performance of this song at the White House and I had tears in my eyes. It was just beautiful. Chris Jackson is so talented, his voice is just... I don’t even have words. This song is definitely in my top 10 Hamilton songs!

Knew Better Part 2 - Ariana Grande I talked about Dangerous Woman in last month’s post and how much I loved Knew Better/Forever Boy. You can probably guess how happy I was when I find out about Knew Better Part 2! This song is so fun! It isn’t what you would usually hear from Ari, but I love it! It’s short but so catchy! Concerts

MALUMA The highlight of the month was Maluma’s concert in Amsterdam. I was so excited to go and it exceeded all my expectations! We had such a good view of the stage and we were relatively close. It was just so much fun and Maluma is absolutely amazing on stage! He gave an incredible performance with all the hits! Basically all my favorite songs from him, so I was pretty happy. Not only is Maluma amazing, but he is also very, very hot. Like, he is beautiful. I had to fan myself a couple of times, haha. You could tell that he was having such a good time during the concert and I think he really enjoyed the crowd in Amsterdam, especially the side me, my sister and cousins were standing ;) GRACIAS MALUMA! Te amo mucho.

September Faves 2018

OK, so I said I would do this, so here it is! Here are my top ten faves for September, all of which are study related. My September Study Prep post will have a little bit of overlap, but will be a bit more detailed, but here goes (clockwise from top left):

Plain A6 Reporters’ Notebook: I genuinely have no clue where I got mine from, and is by far the most boring of the things on my faves list, but I genuinely couldn’t do without it. In the evenings, I write to do lists of the things that need to get done first thing in the morning the next day, which is especially helpful when I get up early and am a little too groggy to make sense of much.

Lihit Lab Pen Case in Yellow Green: Before I got this pencil case, I was using a blue plastic case that cost me 50p from WHSmith because I didn’t think I needed a nice one. Just over a year and a half down the line, I can definitively say that I was wrong. This is so much more durable (meaning I don’t need to keep replacing it all the time like before), and I’ve used the pockets quite a lot (not least for storing bulldog clips, as you can see). There’s definitely a reason that study bloggers rave about this pencil case.

Glass Teacup with Infuser: I was given this mug as a birthday present a while back and since I’ve been at school I haven’t really had the chance to use it. As you can probably tell from my earlier posts over the holidays, I’ve adopted this mug as my go-to for loose-leaf tea, and this mug came from Bird and Blend Tea Co., who are my absolute favourites.

Bird and Blend Tea Co. Strawberry Lemonade Tea: As with the mug, this has become a go-to, and Bird and Blend (formerly Bluebird Tea Co.) have an incredible tea range (including a Butterbeer-inspired brew and my other fave, Morning Kick, all of which they do in bags as well as loose), with a subscription service and international shipping! I know I’ve put a lot of links in here, but Bird and Blend is my favourite and I love their shops (if you’re lucky enough to go to one, order one of their drinks), so I want as many people to know about it as possible.

WHSmith 400-page A4 Refill Pad: My go-to. Enough said.

BIC Cristal Medium Ballpoint Pen: Again, another non-negotiable go-to. I bulk-buy these because it costs 16p per pen and I use them all the time for my study notes as they’re more afforable than MUJI or InkJoy pens and I like the way they write.

MUJI Gel Ink Pen, 0.5 Black: Although I use black biro for pretty much everything, I still keep a couple of these pens to hand for my bullet journal and also for just in case I want to write something with a higher-quality pen. They’re a bit pricey so I tend not to use them as much, but they’re still a fave.

MUJI B5 Notebooks (Lined): As you can probably tell from previous posts, I absolutely love these, and bought 10 of them at once for university. They’re just the right size for lecture notes, and the paper is really smooth to write on. Although I use A4 paper to write notes up neatly, these are invaluable and easy to carry and I bought 10 for £12 including shipping from the MUJI Website (sort of bulk buying I guess)

Staedtler Triplus Fineliners: I got these in a 20 pack, and I use them, alongside the Supertips, for all of my bullet journal work, as well as for various other tasks (including sprucing up study notes). Again, I got these dirt cheap, and they’ve become a high-quality staple in my stationery.

Crayola Supertips Markers: This is another one that I bought because I saw its prevalence in the Studyblr community, and again they’re prevalent for a reason. I bought a pack of 50 at a very low price, although looking back at the amazon link they were 50% the price that I paid. Another permanent staple in my bullet journal, and I use them all the time for my study notes in lieu of buying tons of highlighters.

 After this big post, I’m going to do a “fave of the month” at the end of every month, and it will be stationery or something related to studying, so stay tuned for that!
