apathetic grey, that's how nice had so kindly described ghostblade after a chance encounter with the older hero. an accurate description, one wreck can surely confirm after being dragged to a fancy event with nice, one the younger promised would be fun — one he was instantly swarmed and stolen away at. there will be plenty of people; you'll blend in with the array of assistants, no one will recognise king destruction out of costume ( heh ). a less accurate description from nice— considering the look the number four hero gives is one that seems to be all-knowing despite it's complete lack of …everything… it's probably that very look that leaves ghostblade the only hero without a pack around him. good luck, wreck !
WRECK HAD ALWAYS BEEN LUCKY, to a certain point, to not have seen any of them in his elevator rides up and down from nice’s floor, he had always been alone in that glass cage for some reason. and wreck, he thanks his lucky stars up till this moment, because if he has to be honest, they’re all rather terrifying up close and personal, especially @serendines that can’t stop glaring his way.
at first it had been surreal to be surrounded by so many famous people, people who’ve saved the city countless times, people he once wished to be able to mingle with as well, to belong among the stars with them. a dream each day falling further and further away, out of reach, what first had been at his fingertips now almost out of sight. though wreck was resilient, keeping his hopes high ( only for them to one day crash down with everything he had )
wreck had been introduced at the entrance by his own name, a way to hide, to go unnoticed and still be able to be by nice's side. though, wreck assumes he's already been clocked with the way mighty glory's hero stares at him from across the room. he tries to ignore it, tries to mingle with others and escape his field of vision. but it seems wherever he goes, those steel grey's find him.
it's easy to grab a glass of champagne, to drown his nervousness with alcohol and soon the jitters do disappear, make him more relaxed, lets him laugh with those around them : lucky cyan's assistent if he remembers correctly.
it's when they leave him to help cyan that he feels the hairs rise upon his neck, feels a hole being burned on his back, right between his shoulders. it feels as if nice is about to hit him in that exact spot when they're in their scripted fights, but worse. slowly, wreck looks over his shoulder, meets once again steel grays and wreck tries, he really does, tries to smile and raises his hand in acknowledgement. was this a good idea ?
