It has always been a great pleasure ever since Simon agree to visit Daniel in his loneliness. The android has been living in an average sized apartment away from downtown Detroit for some time. After the crime events at the Phillips, Daniel had to renounce any trace of his existence and now lived disguised as a ‘human’, the LED lamp cut out of his temple, his hair a little changed. Since he was an android, he unfortunately was not able to grow it, he could only style it a little differently. His style of clothing was as different as it was unlike that of the domestic android of his kind, even if it was mostly tight fabric that covered the skin. Daniel still had scars from the bullet wounds, even after he was repaired as best he could. His new synthetic skin still showed little blue scratches and the littlest mark, but that would be too noticeable for the generality of the people; Also for the police.
It’s already night and Daniel’s little home has been bathed in a pleasant glow of orange-yellow light, even small scented candles flickered in the background to give the rooms a good scent. There were natural fregrances like wood, flowers, the scent of the sea. The domestic androids were one of the many who could both smell and taste things.
Simon retired to the couch and was engrossed in a book, which he had already read the day before, but did not know exactly what he had chosen. Maybe it was unintentional but the blueeyed read aloud, perhaps to better memorize the words, or maybe to dictate for Daniel so that he would become part of the book as well. And admittedly, he listened attentively and even enjoyed that his doppelganger might be reading to him while he was doing the last few chores in the household and leaving Simon sitting on the couch. It was a relaxed atmosphere and even though the two men had almost the same voice, Daniel relished by listening to this gentleness in the other male’s tone. Simon has always been the softer gentler of the two while Daniel developed a certain harshness over the months, unusual for his android model. But this negative emotional state would never be part of Simon, Daniel could never be mean to his duplicate, he was the only friend he still had, the only confidant in his life.
At a certain passage of the book, Daniel stopped and listened to Simon’s words until he paused before the sentence ended obviously. A break? Blue eyes looked over at his duplicate, his head crocked a little before Daniel decided to join Simon. He sat down carefully next to the other androids, almost snuggled up against him and Simon seemed to return this gesture only as he leaned against him relaxed. They did this often, exchanging closeness. Daniel liked the feeling very much, the feeling of togetherness, the certainty that he was not alone. Maybe there were some aspects where Daniel might say that he liked it a bit too much, but never addressed that topic, not because he did not want it, it was more of a kind of … shyness. This and the uncertainty of addressing that topic.
Daniel’s blue stare glues towards the pages as his one arm began to move to snake it around the other’s shoulder, allowing himself to bring himself closer towards the doppelganger. And there was this familiar sensation again as his thirium pump had worked a little too fast in his chest, causing a similar feeling to a tickle against the inside of his chest, but didn’t comment it. “Why do you stop?” the disguised android asked in a murmur, changing his gaze away from the book to take a look at Simon’s features who just returned the stare and gazed into Daniel’s face just as well. Both smiled gently at each other.
And then something dawns in Daniel’s head, this certain line Simon just read aloud: ‘ … he examined the face of his duplicate.‘ he repeated in his mind, his own blue eyes widened a little and his gaze moved away in some some way of a coy expression, biting at his lower bit, his arm though remained unwrapped around the other domestic android, fingers absently moved up and down along the shoulder blade area. Of course he remembered about the rest of the line but... first decided not to think about it to much now.
