2015 is the year for individualism! Couples are deciding to infuse their ceremonies and receptions with their personality. We at Serendipity Events, are so excited that this trend is back! We feel that when couples incorporate their personalities into their weddings, that’s what makes their wedding stand out from all the rest!
For most brides the look is the most important part of their wedding and many looks for 2015 are in!
British Invasion – Crediting the appeal of Princess Kate and Downton Abbey that bring together the styles of afternoon tea and garden parties. To achieve this look, dining al fresco is a very popular choice. Takes are adorned in lace. Garlands get turned into runners and loosely styled floral centerpieces help complete the look.
Modern Luxe – Let’s not forget the other side of the spectrum, brides who are into the sophisticated sleek style of color palettes with bold accents. Think of shades of black and white with a punch of emerald green.
Eclectic Elegance – For 2015 there is a growing return to classic grand elegance. This means formal tablescapes, butler service, candelabras and soft lighting. Dramatic wedding cake, fabrics with formal floral arrangements help complete the look.
Top Blooms – English roses, Peonies, hydrangeas, dahlias and ranunculus continue to be the go-to favorites for many brides. They’re very romantic and versatile and look perfect with no matter what style wedding you are going for.
Greenery – Herbs like rosemary and mint, lemon leaf, magnolia leaf, ivy, similax, and maidenhair fern are being strung together in unique ways – framing cocktail menus or to redefine tent ceilings and give chandeliers a soft edge of beauty.
Farm-to-Table-Trend – Brides are starting to build their arrangements around seasonal blooms that are locally or regionally grown. This is not only budget savvy, but also lend itself to the “just picked” vision.
Look Up – Some brides are changing up the way we view centerpieces and are no longer confining them to the center of the table. In Fact, some brides are having their centerpieces shown from above! Floral chandeliers are another way to give your wedding an outdoor feel for your guests whether it’s indoors or out.
Buttons and Gems – Couples are wowing their guests with an invitation suite that’s delivered in attention grabbing style: wrapped in shimmery cellophane; boxed in decorative paper; tied with ribbon, leather rope of baker’s twine; studded with crystals; or adorned with flowers.
Selfie Sensational – Why not use your engagement photos for fun and personal save-the-dates that show your personality?
Champagne with a Twist - Champagne towers have returned!! For a more casual, colorful option: have the bartender mix in fruit purees to create a signature cocktail that matches your palette.
Smaller Sips – Whether is crafts of beer, shots of different bourbons, wine samplings, and sangria; couples are letting guests sample an array of different beverages. These types of different stations help let guests peek into your personal tastes, with the added bonus of helping you keep your bar budget under control.
Open Bar NOT Required – More and more couples are offering guests wine, beer and liquor that has a theme. This means showcasing drinks from their home states or from their vacation getaway. So while you’re limiting the choices, you’re adding to the experience.
Family-Style Dining – Guest interaction is a big goal for today’s couples. Nothing gets a conversation started quite like having guests passing beautifully plated entrees and sides.
Tasting Stations – These stations are taking over the cocktail hour! Couples show off their favorite foods in smaller portions. From oyster shucking stations and mac ‘n cheese bars, to make-it-your-own taco stations to local food trucks pulling right up to the patio are surprising guests!
Snack Attack – As the party’s about to wind down, couples rev up the energy of their guests with late-night snacks. Some of these snacks include, snow cones, warm cookies and milkshakes just to name a few.
Shine On – Metallic icings and dustings of glitter will make another appearance this year, along with the mixing of gold and silver.
Tempting to Touch Texture – Lace patterns, pleats and textured buttercream frosting remain a strong trend for brides who are going for a vintage or soft romantic feel. For a more modern wedding, the texture may be three tiered lattice, herringbone or another geometric patter. Or have the baker roll out black fondant and hand-paint it to look like a chalkboard!
Second Glances – A more eclectic concept would be a “naked” cake with no or minimal frosting. Some couples are also opting to have several vastly different kinds of cakes arranged together to form a cake bar. (Mmmm)
Flavors – Couples are choosing cake flavors that are rooted in their hometowns or family heritage, where they began dating or a favorite destination. Honey lavender, coconut, and zucchini lime, blueberry, chai tea latte, Aztec hot chocolate, caramel apple cider and many more!
What’s Old is New – Couples are requesting updated renditions of wedding classics these days. Instead of Etta James “At Last”, they may choose the acoustic version by Jason Mraz. Or swap Elvis’s “Can’t Help Falling in Love” with Ingrid Michaelson’s re-interpretation.
Edible Favors – Not just mini jars of jam, but food kits! Couples are giving gifts boxes stuffed with all the fixings for a yummy late-night snack or a morning after brunch.
Framed for the Occasion – An artistic twist on the photo booth, is hiring an onsite silhouette artist. Guests can pose for a short sitting and leave with a personal memento.
