An unfinished sketch that I didn’t have time to finalize (yet, thanks to molecular neurobiology quiz studying), but here it is anyway! Just human verse Marina ( @carchardon ) and my OC Serena ( @serenexwaters ). Great white shark buddies!

“Did I frighten you? Didn’t mean to. Sorry.” -(serenexwaters)
❝ O-Oh ---N-No, no, it’s okay . . .You just --- startled me.❞
Out of her VERY SKIN.
If only her sisters were with her now. Together, they could herd whole schools of fish. Corral a massive whale to their side. Alone and unaccompanied, the great white was feeling more and more vulnerable. And as the fish continued to evade her snapping jaws, and the pains of starvation tore at her stomach, Serena only began to feel both frustration and lethargy.
“Would you just stay still!!!!” Serena growled, rushing after the fleeing fish, not taking anytime to notice the approaching kelp leaves. She barreled into the kelp, jaws open and eyes rolled back into her head for protection. The mechanism was incredibly excellent for avoiding the claws and teeth of struggling seals. The only downside? She couldn’t see when she did so.
The sudden lack of mobility caused the great white’s stomach to lurch forward, and the oxygen was knocked out of her system when her head shot forward and whiplash caused her body to shudder. Serena twisted and turned, but the kelps leaves dug into her skin, entangling her body the more she thrashed. Soon enough, panic set in, and the great white was reduced to a frenzy of erratic movement, in all futile attempts to break free of the plant chains.
As Gill propelled himself forward, it became more and more difficult to watch for every stalk of kelp. One wrong move, and there he was: tripped up by a strand, and sent spinning around to face the direction he just came from.
He cringed, about to whip himself back around.... Until his pursuer caught his eye.
She wasn’t on his tail, getting closer by the second. She was far behind, and wildly thrashing about.... apparently caught in the tangles of kelp.
He grinned.
The chase was over.
“Heheh.... how d’ya like THAT, eh?~”
He spat, then narrowed his eyes in a glare, giving a sharp nod. He floated in place, regaining his breath. (And perhaps more than just that.) His tiny chest heaved. Brisk fins idly treaded water. Finally, he turned away, leaving his predator behind with a mutter.
“Not so deadly anymore, are ya....”
He knew it was best to keep going, lest the shark escape. He glided along, intent on getting away... anywhere but here. Up ahead were the long thick ropes he saw before. A great shadow loomed above them, blotting out the sun. Perhaps that would be a good place to....
Wait.
That thing... was moving.
Moving towards them.
He stopped in place, and glared at the structure. It seemed to bob and sway a little in the water... long, deep and curved..... It was a boat.
Gill stared it down, examining it. The strands that hung from it-- those were definitely man-made ropes. And there was.... something else. Something spear-like? Sharp and jagged... and behind them was another thing.... a net. Definitely a net.
He sneered and headed to his left. Now he had to get away from humans as well as the shark.
the shark.....
Gill turned back to glance at her, one last time. There she was, still stuck in the kelp tangle. And the ship was headed right her way.
Well.... they could deal with each other, then. Yeah, that might happen. And it wouldn’t concern him.
He turned in the safest direction and started to swim.
....But as he moved, a nagging discomfort hovered over him.
Well, there is it again. Humans making their way through the ocean, picking up and doing whatever they wanted, to whatever they wished. Taking as they pleased. Just another life at their mercy. Just another fish in the sea.
Gill’s fins began working slower, his tail relaxed. This was... guilt. Anxiety. But why? Why was he suddenly feeling uncomfortable with leaving behind something that tried to kill him?
He stopped. Turned. And watched the boat drift closer and closer to the tangled kelp beds.

❝ I’m --- I’m not scared of you !! My dad --- h-he fought off three sharks !! And when he finds you, you’ll be SORRY !! I’m not afraid . . . ❞
A BLATANT LIE, but Nemo would never admit it. He must be brave, just like his father was when crossing the ocean.
"It looks like you’re out of ideas.” -(serenexwaters)
❝ N-No . . . No !!
I heard DORY say once that there’s always a way ---
So, there has to be another way !! And I’m just not seeing it . . .❞
Don’t be scared, don’t be scared.
Figured out my faceclaim for human!Serena ( @serenexwaters ) :
Alexandra Shipp (specifically her appearance in the upcoming X-Men: Apocalypse, because holy crap! That’s so similar to how I imagined Serena’s hairstyle! Did some slightly color tweak with her hair (quality’ll improve once I get my wacom tablet back).
Underneath a cold and reserved exterior, Serena ( @serenexwaters ) can actually be a rather kind individual once one gets to know her. She is especially fond of child, even if said children were once former prey.
Accidental mom friend
I was tempted to have Serena ( @serenexwaters ) meet the FEA first, and then develop friendships with the fish, but I wanted her to get a feel for herself, a glimpse, at the possibility of befriending her usual prey.
During a hunt, Serena happens upon Nemo who mistakes her for his other great white friend. Despite Nemo’s initial confusion, Serena is so shocked at the fish’s fearlessness and curiosity, she doesn’t have the heart to chase after him. Things snowball forward until she meets the FEA, and realizes her thoughts are not alone on the chance of friendship between predator and prey.
