Unexpected announcement of Dawn of War IV (hello nostalgia)
First of all, I’m just delighted it’s back, considering how bad DoW III was (I tend to pretend it doesn’t exist), and absolutely loving it that my favourite character of the series, Cyrus, is finally back!
Kinda taken aback they also show him getting stabbed and a funeral. I hope they don’t bring him back just to kill him.
But I’m not convinced he will die in the story, and that’s not simply denial talking. I just think it would be weird to spoil that narrative beat in the announcement trailer – it would take the punch out of his death, with everyone knowing a year or so in advance. Why ruin it? And everyone who doesn’t know him from DoW II will know not to get attached and won’t care about him. So, at this point I suspect it could be from a vision, or a what-if (you fail) cutscene of sorts. Or maybe just trailer footage to get people talking – wouldn’t be the first time.
It also wouldn’t be the first time Cyrus got “killed” in a vision.

Side Note: Excited for Mechanicus as a faction.
Just happy to see more of my favourite Dawn of War-character after 14 years since his last appearance.
Some more info on Cyrus’ potential death. Having watched a few videos, it seems the campaign/story is going to consist of 4 parts, one for each playable faction. You can choose the order in which you play them and even make decisions that will influence certain events. Thus, Cyrus’ death might be in our hands – right now I think it’s possible our actions will determine who lives/dies and maybe even who wins the war.
