Do you like/do head-cannons? If so do you have any for Barba, Fin and any other SVU character that doesn't get a lot of screen time?
I absolutely ADORE headcanons! I’ve only ever done them for Teen Wolf and once or twice with the Walking Dead, so I’m sorry in advance if these completely suck, but the SVU fandom is a lot more chill than the Teen Wolf and less gatekeep-y, so I’ll try! Put under a cut, because it’s kinda long and not everyone wants to be subjected to terrible SVU headcanons.
Barba:
He’s Bisexual and has relationships with both men and women (this seems to be generally accepted within the fandom, though, so I’m not sure if it counts)
He didn’t originally want to be a Lawyer, but he saw it as his way out of his life, of being poor, of being looked down at, so he took it and ran with it and ended up loving it.
He tried alcohol for the first time when he was 13, straight Vodka, and almost spit it out. It was only with Alex and Eddie, though, and they both had about the same reaction.
He didn’t do drugs, but was around them. (I have a whole backstory for Eddie that involves it, if you’d like to know that)
His father always smoked cigarettes, so he could never be around them because it reminded him too much of that bastard, that abuser, that piece of scum he wish he had the guts and strength to kill.
When he worked with Rita at a Private Law Firm (Are we taking that as canon or headcanon?) the two of them had a flirty, will they won’t they kinda vibe and both of them always thought they eventually would, but they never did.
He had a full scholarship to Harvard thanks to his Straight A’s and shining recommendations from just about every teacher, but still worked at least 2 jobs, 3 when he could get them, from the time he was 16 all the way through college.
What he didn’t absolutely need to spend, he split between his giving to his mother and investing, that’s how he has so much now. He still has a few thousand in stocks and other investments that I should know the name of, but I forget.
His mother refused to take his money, so he would go grocery shopping for her and just leave the food in her fridge when she was gone.
He pretended like he didn’t know how it got there, maybe one of the neighbors, maybe a thief that noticed how handsome her son was from the copious amounts of pictures around the apartment, but she knew and he knew she knew.
Fin:
He married Teresa right out of High School and they had Ken after a few years of being married.
When they were in High School, they had a pregnancy scare, but it ended up being a false alarm.
He wasn’t there for Ken’s birth because he was working, but showed up later that day.
He’s extremely jealous and once punched a guy for flirting with Teresa.
He was originally in Narcotics because he had a best friend who OD’d and he wanted to make sure that never happened to anyone else ever again.
The first time he saw someone die from an OD on the job he cried, because it reminded him of his best friend.
He wanted to have more kids after Ken, but Teresa told him she wouldn’t have any more until he actually starts helping raise Ken and is around more.
He once threatened someone who bullied Ken in High School, told him that if he ever tried to mess with his son again he would put him in the hospital and then put him in jail, he has connections that’ll look the other way, it’d be easy to set up a punk like him, no one will even miss him.
Teresa is the only woman he ever truly loved and is the only one he ever will truly love, but he’s come to terms with the fact that they’ll never get back together.
One of the reasons he loves video games so much is because he used to play them with Ken, either when they were together or in a Multi-Player game apart, it was one of the only things they had in common.
