Leth, no contest. Ek is more durable and more tactical, but that doesn’t make much difference in the face of Leth’s overwhelming lightning onslaught. If they were in an all-out one-on-one fight, it would be over in about five seconds, and Ek would be ash.
Given time to prepare a trap, Ek might be able to rig up grenades and get the drop on Leth. But a situation like that most likely involves military assignment and his entire squad, so that would be cheating as far as this prompt is concerned.
Interestingly, they did actually meet on the battlefield once. An imperial intelligence minder had just activated Lethen’s obedience programming in a foxhole, but died to shrapnel before he could give an order. Leth sat there, a silent blank slate awaiting commands… until pub trooper Ekhein, lost behind enemy lines, dove into the foxhole for cover. He yelped in surprise to find a big-eyed, skinny-framed noodle boy waiting there in silence. Leth tended to wear very simple robes as Lord Vereri, so Ek thought he was a civilian. All Ek said was, “Stick with me, buddy, we’ll look out for each other!”
This worked for a while (Leth following silently behind Ek, who assumed he was regular shocked and afraid, not brainwashed-sith shocked and afraid). Ek was very affectionate and comforting to Leth, patching up a few scrapes, ruffling his hair, and offering to help Leth reunite with his family. Leth never responded verbally, though he did smile a few times. Eventually, however, a huge battalion of Imps was sent to find the missing sith lord. They found the two men a few miles from the republic lines, but when they moved to shoot Ek, Leth killed them all. With force lightning.
Ek: What… was that.
Leth, speaking for the first time: Looking out for the buddy.
Realizing that the best way to “look out for” Ek was to disobey the “stick with me” part of the order, Leth pointed Ek to the republic encampment, returned to the imperial army, and promptly had all his memories of Ekhein erased by imperial intelligence.
probably at least five of my OCs would smooch Ek in various different ways (extra mention to Leyrah, who just goes full theatrical if she runs into someone under the mistletoe who's down for being dramatically swept off their feet). also, Tarin stands up on her toes and gives Curinwe and Ceri both a friendly forehead smooch and tells them their friends are looking after them so pls get some rest
Ek is always delighted by dramatic sweeps and smoops, yes good excellent.
Curinwe and Ceri both absolutely need friends and forehead smooches and so much rest. Someone pls make them nap.
everything answers so much (read more for more derp)
Ekhein Agapi
1. Does your character have any idea of where they might be in ten years?
Hugging someone. Who and where and why seems very unimportant at themoment. Hopefully still helping people. 2. How does your character regard their appearance?
“Well, I’ve got a tree painted all over me, so... clearly: awesome.”3. Would your character rather receive traditional scientific medicaltreatment, or Force healing?
Big fan of both. Force healing is cool and mysterious and fast likewow; medtech is his area of expertise and he loves seeing newsetups/applications. Whoever is doing the healing will probably need tosedate him so he doesn’t try to stay awake through it and ask endlessquestions.4. What are your character’s views on romance; how, if at all, do theyapproach the subject?
Romance? Hell YEAH. Approach? Hell......a? Hella??? Flexing I guess?? Puppy eyes and a lot ofaffirmation...????
Ek is a big fan of almost everyone he meets and very casually gets crusheson every sentient being, but is also notoriously absent minded and, you know, constantly on the move was a republic soldier/medic. It would take someoneon the other end being persistent and blunt for him to be like oh. OH. You mean for serious. NICE.
5. What’s the dumbest injury your character has ever received?
Leaps off makeshift stage air guitaring, underestimates enthusiasm of crowd incatching him, smashes face on floor, breaks nose.
“Crowd” here meaning “only Ankoni with no one else in the room”
Eli’Zan Luz6. What is the worst thing your character believes about themself?
That she is ultimately useless and unintelligent; that she can only hinderand never help.7. What’s the silliest thing your character has ever done?
Uh. Most things Eli does have an element of silliness to them. There was that time she tried to do an Ellekai impression but she just ended upcovering herself in blankets and talking about how wonderful Ellekai was forten minutes straight. (“I am EllekaiMassani and I am very smart and kind and wise and my eyes glow like the suns ofTatooine,” etc.)8. How much emotion does your character tend to display, and how do theydisplay it?
All of it, all the time, all over. Eli has an extremely expressiveface, with a mouth that can reach incredible sizes and eyes that can get widelike a potoo bird’s. She’s never been any good at hiding any emotionsand, to be fair, she never really tried.9. How much sleep does your character tend to get?
Eli tries to get the recommended 7-8 hours a night; obviously this is oftenimpossible in warzone situations. She can sleep anywhere, and will curlup in a corner of any transport ship and nap on the way to her next drop point.10. How does your character treat people they dislike?
Cries at them. It is so hard to be a person Eli’zan dislikes. You have to really, really work at it. Mostly she is just sad that youare not friends. Why do you do the things that make the Eli sad. Why.
Loren Luz II11. What does your character look for in a friend?
How annoyed are you by puns and wonks and grinning pirate captains? Alot? Very annoyed? Har har we are besties now no take backs.12. Does your character readily express what they need and want to others?
If the “need” serves the function of saving lives, tweaking the empire’snose, or performing other heroic derring-do, Loren will voice it loudly. He can beg, borrow, plead, or cajole an entire fleet out of an annoyed admiralwith zero hesitation. If we’re talking about personal needs? Lorenis adept at laughing and redirecting the conversation the moment someoneimplies he has them.13. What are your character’s musical preferences?
Anything that allows for easy harmonizing. Things meant for two ormore singers. Spacer shanties, parody songs, funny little improvised barswhile slicing imperial command consoles. 14. What’s the best thing someone could give your character?
Anything that was clearly given specifically for him, by someone who reallywanted to give him a gift. Loren likes shows of affection but does notexpect them.15. How does your character handle embarrassment?
It is really, really, really hard to embarrass Loren. Reallyhard. He usually likes to just sit in socially awkward situations andgrin at whoever is attempting to make him blush. He has two settings:“lmao” and “completely ashamed.” Once you’ve crossed the line intosomething he is ashamed of, namely things to do with his father and stepmother, there’s almost zero chance of amusement or any positive outcome of any kind.
3. What does your character believe happens after death? If they’re Force-sensitive, are they likely to leave a ghost?
Ek is about as force blind as one can get on the sensitivity spectrum. Having lost so many at such a young age, he has always firmly believed that after death they somehow went to a better place. He’s not sure if that means returning to some kind of lightside of the Force hug-convention or what, but he believes the good they were and the good they did is permanent somehow. He hopes the same will be true for him.
4. How good is your character at dealing with children?
Excellent. He loves kids and is part sentient jungle gym part shenanigans instigator. Some would argue he never stopped being one, which gives him an unfair advantage.
5. How does your character relate to other species? Do they have any particular pride in their own species?
Ek’s reaction to most things is affirmation. Differences are awesome. Biology is awesome. Sentient beings are awesome. As a medic, he’s studied the biology of as many species as he possibly can, and makes it his mission to be able to heal and help any person he comes across.
Ekhein is proud to be a zabrak, but his pride is more specifically located in being part of the Agapi clan. He’s one of about six left after Darth Lacuna’s eradication, and he works tirelessly to preserve and honor what traditions he can. The tattoos covering his arms, torso, and upper thighs are evidence of this. His dream is to rebuild the clan with found family if he survives his career as a trooper.
Selim Vervaine:
12. What kind of food does your character prefer?
While Selim is not the type to complain about whatever food is available, he does have a taste for the finer things. He prefers small but elegantly prepared meals, avoids heavy fare or abundantly meaty cuisine, and will enjoy any meal twice as much if it is paired with an excellent wine. More the fish-and-salad type.
13. What’s your character like when sleep deprived?
Silent and focused. Tends to be a bit more direct if he needs to speak. Selim is often pushed to extremes of sleep/food deprivation by various missions and is well versed in what his body can and cannot handle. If he has reached the point where his lack of sleep is affecting his behavior, his main focus is ending whatever threat has kept him awake. He thinks of himself as significantly less polite at these times, but it’s hardly noticeable to anyone else.
15. What is the most harmless thing your character is afraid of?
Selim doesn’t have many harmless fears. He spends a lot of his time away from Cyrus fretting about what messes his husband is making while he’s unsupervised but let’s be real those fears are completely valid.
Ahemeit Amduat
6. Can your character use any weapons other than their canonical class weapon? What do they prefer?
After Mei was forced to fake her death and flee imperial space, Revjan and the rest of clan Ordo gave her a crash course in kolto sprays, blasters, and scatterguns. She spent a decade or so pretending to be your run-of-the-mill sawbones, and continued to mix sith healing and medtech when she settled down on an out-of-the-way moon to raise her family. Mei was never terribly impressive with a lightsaber, but the weapon has much more intimidation factor; it’s the one she turns to when more dangerous enemies appear.
7. What would your character do with a ship full of gizkas?
Giggle a lot.
8. How good is your character with technology? What kinds of technology do they have the best understanding of/proficiency with?
Mei is a surprisingly quick study when it comes to technology. She took her mandalorian blaster training and ran with it; she continues to study advances in conventional medicine and kolto use to the end of her days; and when Leto taught her how to slice, she did at one point embarrass him by unlocking various sealed doors and codelocked intel before he did. This may or may not have had something to do with her getting uninvited to Port Nowhere.
1. What is one thing others might find intolerable about them?Someone could find everything about Ekhein completely intolerable without much effort, especially if that someone hates fun and lives in a world without joy or fantastic music and--hold up who let Ek grab the microphone. For real tho, Ek’s relentless enthusiasm and determination to be cheerful often aggravates people who think he doesn’t understand the gravity of the situation.
Guileta has the opposite problem, having been called every possible variation on the word “heartless” for her adherence to the Code, emotional distance, and frigid bedside manner. She likes droids more than people and has often been accused of being one.
3. Name one or more of their bad habits. As a medic, Ekhein really shouldn’t be charging into battle with guns blazing, throwing grenades with both hands, but there he is. He’s also extremely forgetful, especially where his own wounds are concerned. He needs to learn to include himself in the triage calculations. As a final note, Ek is absolutely useless when it comes to stealth, so really do not bring him along for that strike team behind enemy lines. Or do, for maximum hilarity.
Guileta’s emotional response is generally [isolate, separate, eradicate], which doesn’t really do her any favors when interacting with other sentients. Things tend to go very wrong very fast when her emotional response outpaces her ability to throw her feelings in the trashcan.
5. What is one thing they do that can negatively affect their relationship with friends?Ek is sometimes overly enthusiastic to the point where he doesn’t pick up on more subtle cues about wanting space/needing to be left alone. He tries very hard to notice these things, but isn’t always able to do so. When he messes up, he apologizes, does as he was asked, and works very hard to find new, less-obnoxious ways of showing his affection.
Guileta keeps people at arm’s length and aggressively enforces this distance. People who think they have gotten close enough to her to bypass that often end up emotionally clotheslined or verbally eviscerated. As you might have guessed, she doesn’t have a lot of friends. If you do manage to get past that barrier, expect to see an uglier, emotionally-compromised, occasionally ill-tempered woman who is not nearly as attractive as the icy mask suggests. But who is a great deal more human, and has a lot of buried affection for those who think it’s worth the wait.
7. What is the biggest mistake they’ve ever made?Ekhein really shouldn’t have become a soldier if his life goal was to rebuild the ruined Agapi clan.
Guileta’s life altering mistake as a child of five was deciding that the reason her mother suffered so much when the Jedi took her children away was because she allowed herself to be ruled by her emotions. That view of tears and their source cut her off from the love and affection of so many people over the course of her life.
9. Name some of their major physical shortcomings.Ekhein, being a Zabrak, is an obligate carnivore. He loudly bemoans this a lot because he loves trees and wants to eat fruit [a couple amusing but fruitless attempts to do so ended in projectile vomit and a green medic]. He also carries a lot of bangs and bruises wherever he goes, so he’s never quite in mint condition – mostly because he’s always devoting his supplies to his troops or civilians they encounter.
Guileta is known as a beauty, and is in very good physical condition. By jedi standards, she’s certainly more competent than the saber animations for Sages suggest, but she’s not on the physical top level that a jedi knight or saber instructor would reach. She doesn’t suffer from any physical ailments or ongoing disabilities. Her shortcomings are more emotional and relational than physical. And if you suggest she has physical defects you will probably hear a five hour thesis on the curve of her neck from her husband.
11. What are their intellectual shortcomings?Ek is really, really not a scholar. He loves engaging with new ideas but it takes them a long while to sink in. Fortunately, he has zero ego invested in this, and is happy to learn and pick up bits and pieces where he can. That said, he just does not grok either the Jedi Code or the Sith Code; both make zero sense to him. He’s just here to keep people in one piece and as happy as they can possibly be, given the circumstances.
Guileta has read exhaustively on jedi philosophy, but her fear of emotion and knowledge that she really doesn’t handle it well has kept her from actually engaging with a variety of interpretations. She sticks to the Code out of fear rather than freedom, completely undermining the goal of the Code in the process. This is somewhat loosened by Tzefanyah Pae’s intellectual influence, though not loosened quite as dramatically as the clasps on his shirt [and pants].
13. In what ways might they be overly negative and/or pessimistic?Ekhein aggressively chooses to be cheerful, chooses to hope, chooses to smile. His philosophy is to eschew as much negativity as he possibly can. He understands that this is not something everyone can or even wants to do. But for him, it was a choice between dwelling on the enormity of his losses or living for the joy that survived. The choice isn’t always easy, but he continues to make it.
Guileta on the other hand is naturally pessimistic about almost everything, though she would describe it as being ‘rational.’ She has little faith in her fellow sentients, and is almost offended when she realizes that she actually has hopes for/believes in one of her friends and allies.
15. How might they be ignorant or prejudiced?Ekhein likes people, and wants to like people even in the face of extreme differences. If someone says “You are wrong about this,” his inclination is to listen. He’s a Pub Scum Republic Trooper to the Max, however, and while he will offer medical treatment to anyone in need, he’s obviously wary of Sith and their followers.
Guileta is deeply prejudiced against imperials and Sith, and will strictly adhere to the code in her dealings with them while still generally looking for opportunities to strike. Imperial agents in particular she would rather eliminate than make the mistake of trusting them. Some of this comes from her own experiences in the Sacking of Coruscant, and some of it comes from her freakish overprotectiveness of her eventual husband, Tzefanyah.
17. When would they be too judgmental of someone or something? If you judge Ekhein’s music taste he’s gonna fake being deeply offended for like three years while being genuinely a little offended for maybe an hour. Other than that he’s like a sentient golden retriever, he’d rather lick your face than waste time judging you.
Guileta is always judging everyone everywhere at all times, no one escapes the critical gaze, how is this even a question.
19. Is there anything they refuse to budge on? What are they stubborn about?Ekhein will not be budged if he believes he is making the right choice to keep his friends healthy and safe. This mostly comes up when people order him to sit the fuck down and get some damn rest.
It took years of the love of her life gently but determinedly prodding her to get Guileta to budge on certain tenants of the Code. She is stubborn about pretty much everything, though she manages to hide it behind the air of a resolute, dispassionate jedi.
