Well we're movin on up.. Yeah Baby..
This morning I got up early, just couldn't sleep for some reason. I headed to the office around 4:45. It's a drive from my place to the shop and sometimes I venture through downtown as a visual stimulant to help get my creative juices going. This morning was special. I saw a lot of things that ... well I have seen before but just had not noticed like I did today.
The sky, the air and the temperature brought it all together for me and I hope it does the same for you..
I hope you enjoy.
The Gold Mine | The garage
Jerome may be the only ghost town in America that has its own ghost suburb.
Sitting a mile north of Jerome, the Gold King Mine and Ghost Town is one of the most fascinating attractions in the region. Visitors will find a rustic assortment of ramshackle buildings, the gash of an old mine shaft and a sprawling array of rusted machinery that forever teeters between ruin and redemption.

The Phoenix Trotting Park
I have driven by this place at least a hundred times on trips to Los Angeles. It always intrigued me young man, the wonder of how an amazing building could just be left and forgotten. It truly makes you wonder.. Even things made of brick and mortar deteriorate without constant care by human hands. The other side of that is really quire intriguing to me, all that stuff was already here. Man just put it together.. Chew on that for a while.
This property is abandoned and has been since the early 2000's ( best info I can find ). Abandoned property's have character and provide a story. I just hope this one stays around for a while to keep telling its.
Enjoy

The Phoenix Trotting Park, a horse racing track, was originally built in 1964 in Goodyear, Arizona. It opened in 1965 and was run for about two and a half seasons. The large, futuristically designed structure gave an optimistic look for the 1960s.
Originally planned to be built for a cost of about $3 million, the facility ended up costing around $10 million. Various incentives during the events that were held, such as free parking and admission did initially lead to decent attendance. However, a variety of factors led to the inevitable closing of the track. The hot weather of the desert caused events to be uncomfortable to attendees. The location provided limited means to control rain, leading to floods that caused accessibility problems. The park is also located about 20 miles outside of Phoenix and was built long before any major roads made the area easily accessible to those in the city or its suburbs.[1]
The main building of the park was used in the 1998 Charlie/Martin Sheen movie No Code of Conduct. Part of the feature involved a large explosion occurring at the track.

Meet | Daniel and Jeff
You know that sometimes your daily habits can be so fluent that you don't realize that you are even acting on them. For me the best example is my daily drive through to get my java. This morning I drove through the Starbucks on I-17 and Thomas. Its close to the freeway and a quick in and out. As I was pulling out and heading to the office Jeff caught my eye. Sitting on a sewage great and smiling, his face caught my heart so I pulled over.
Jeff and I chatted over a cup of coffee and Daniel walked up and sat down next to him. I have to tell you that being with these guys and spending a few minutes with them is in my mind an awesome start to the day. Daniel had a big black eye, he had been assaulted and told to move from where he was sleeping the night before. Even so, he was friendly and kind. The one thing that moved me this morning was his faith.
He told me that he has been a drifter for several years. Mostly based on bad decisions and regrets. When he began to talk my heart just opened and the lesson here is truly worth sharing. Daniel told me that his faith in God is real more so now than ever before. His daily survival and providing he asks for diligently with a faith that he swears to be intimate. When I asked him to sing me a song, he picked a little Tracy Chapman followed by Amazing Grace.
You see. Everyday Daniel prays that God will protect his life, fill his stomach and get him through until tomorrow. Keep these guys in your hearts and regardless of their circumstances keep them in your prayers.
