The rehersal dinner dress I won’t get to wear👆🏼Our dream wedding was cancelled. But don’t feel bad for us. It was a conscious, no brainer, decision that we made to protect the people we care about most during our global health crisis. The thought of endangering our loved ones or participating in the spread of this virus made the choice easy. Yes, we lost money, but there is nothing more valuable than our health. I received many messages with “sorry” included in them. I’m so grateful for the sentiment but we’re healthy and safe. To be honest, I’ve all but forgotten about the wedding over the last few days. It’s time to think about bigger things. I am consumed with thoughts of what our future looks like and how my family and I can make the lives of everyone around us better and safer. That begins with staying at home. We can work from home. We’re fortunate and I’ll never, ever, especially now, take that for granted. At the same time, my heart is absolutely broken for the millions of people suffering around the world. Yes, millions. There may not be millions of people sick yet, but millions of people are feeling the effects of this illness in their lives by a shortage of food, supplies or worries about how they’ll provide for their families without pay. It is not only up to us as a community to stay home and protect each other, but to come together as a community to hold each other up. The next thing you can do is support ANYONE close to you that is out of work. If you can, offer financial help - little things like sending your hairstylist a Venmo, they are self employed & don’t qualify for unemployment... No amount is too little! If you don’t have the means, offer any sort of help you can spare (safely). We may effectively slow the spread of this virus but the economy will suffer in ways that will effect all of us, sick or not. I pray that you’ll find it in your hearts to support someone in your life that needs it and if you’re someone that needs help, this post is meant to inspire someone to find their way to help you. As for my wedding... we’ll have many more blessings to celebrate when these days are far behind us. #sergioandalyssa #payitforward (at New York, New York) https://www.instagram.com/p/B95yd9yjgRB/?igshid=1te7mmi0ws1xq
