TRAUMA: a deeply distressing or disturbing experience. This word has been playing in my head over and over the last few days. The trauma of watching someone’s life being taken away, was not easy for me, it took a few times to get through the video. The world watched as George Floyd took his last breaths, this should not be easy to watch. Yet, it’s all too common. No one should ever have to witness that kind of pure evil, never mind fear that on a daily basis because of their skin color. No human being should EVER be subject to that type of trauma. I’m SO SICK of the hateful actions of ignorant people. I’m SO SICK of bullies, hateful words, horrific actions that plague our world for meaningless reasons. While I acknowledge the ugliness that infests the world around me, I acknowledge that I will never know what it’s like to live in fear because of my skin color and that my anger pales in comparison to black families who fear for their loved ones every single day. Trauma is not easy to recover from, it will not happen over night, but it is possible. Start with yourself, start with love, start at home, start with your children, start in your business and always speak up when you see wrongdoing.
