Kusunoki's Garden Of Gods Episode 2 Review - Money Is No Longer An Issue
I do like that the story does address that Minato’s funds are depleting because of the food he buys for the god friends. Money isn’t infinite and Minato isn’t a millionaire. I’m a little envious that the tortoise is a source of good fortune who helps Minato with all his money problems. Don’t we all want a tortoise who blesses us with money? However, is that all Minato is going to do when it comes to money? No work and just earn money through tortoise money cheat?
Anyways, a lot more gods come visit Minato’s house. We have the divine tortoise Reiki who likes Japanese alcohol. Fuujin and Raijin who like both the western sweets and Japanese alcohol. There’s also Ouryu who likes wine. Reiki was the evil spirit who accidentally got purified when Minato was just walking by last episode and Ouryu got purified via Harima’s involvement. I do like that they all give Minato something when they come visit and are not just freeloaders. Reiki gives him the seeds that later becomes the camphor tree. Fuujin blesses Minato with some of his wind powers as gratitude for the offerings. Ouryu makes the tree become bigger.
Though, I do wonder about how the gods and spirits become contaminated. Is there something contaminating their souls or is it just natural process? I do wish that the story does delve into more of why this happens and how it can be prevented. Like how Reiki is Minato’s money hack, Minato is Harima’s exorcism hack. I do want to know more about the exorcist side of the story as it does seem like the more serious aspect compared to Minato’s cozy, god-loving side.
Anyways, the voice cast is splendid. Reiki is voiced by Toru Okawa, who voiced the Mushroom Lord in Champignon Witch and Spirit Albarn in Soul Eater. Ouryu is voiced by Koji Yusa who voiced Midosuji in Yowamushi Pedal, Renzo Shima in Blue Exorcist and Gin Ichimaru in Bleach. Fuujin, the blue one, is voiced by Yoshiki Nakajima who voiced Yuta in The Summer Hikaru Died and Cyril in Secrets of the Silent Witch. Raijin, the red one, is voiced by Daiki Kobayashi who voiced Kinokoinu from Kinokoinu which is another healing anime that you should totally watch!
I am a little worried about what Harima’s colleague Ichijo is going to do with Minato as he attached a paper shikigami onto him when he bumped into him. Sir, that’s Harima’s secret boyfriend. Get your own or stay out of their business! Let me know your thoughts on this episode!
