tw: mentions of murder, abuse/dv, stalking
author’s note: that pic of sevika is so good i had to include it😛
you woke up with a slight jolt, groaning as you sat up on the couch—hair disheveled, clothes askew, disoriented. you must’ve fallen asleep on the couch again, and judging by how your breath just felt like it smelt bad, clearly it was not on purpose. no, it definitely seemed like a ‘i’m only going to watch a few episodes and totally not go to sleep’ kind of thing happened, but clearly it didn’t work.
“shit, i didn’t even start editing that yet…” you muttered, rubbing the sleep from your eyes.
your legs felt like sludge as you trudged to your bathroom, not even bothering to close the door behind you. you definitely felt a little guilty for not adhering to your upload schedule, but maybe you could get it out on time if you locked in for six hours. and even if you didn’t, your subscribers would understand—that’s the kind of community you cultivated, and you were grateful for every last one of them.
all 350,000 of them.
and sevika, just so happened to be apart of those 350,000 fans.
although, she would prefer to be distinguished from all those other subscribers—they didn’t like you like she liked you.
she was sure none of them were constantly checking and modding your discord server, none of them were subscribed to the highest tier of your patreon and donated every time you streamed. no—nobody’s doing all of that. because at that point, anyone who did that clearly wasn’t there just for the content. most people would like, comment, occasionally donated on a stream, and that was it. but sevika went the extra mile… you could say.
she was leaned back on her couch while eating a bowl of corn flakes, phone gripped in her hand as her thumb swiped up on the screen. she was going through your tiktok account for the… seventh time this week? who knows—she’s not counting.
you even looked pretty in the clips you posted to your social media. so fucking pretty. sevika wanted to see you when you weren’t in front of the camera, just relaxing. she wanted to see you all the time, really all the time. but that was the kind of thinking that got people caught.
and then sevika heard something that made her ears perk up. she scrolled back to the video—a clip from a live stream you recorded, a week or two ago. it was casual, just answering questions from your chat.
“somebody just asked about the unsolved murder cases i did the other day? no yeah, it really creeped me out investigating one of those cases, because—and i’m not gonna give out details—but one of those people were literally murdered like 10, 15 minutes away from my apartment. and the fact that it was so recent with seemingly no motive to kill an innocent 26 year old guy… yeah it uh, it definitely makes me paranoid.”
sevika knew exactly what video you were referencing—she sat through the 2 hour premiere to be the first to watch it. she made a beeline to your youtube channel, finding video with the quickness. she watched the whole thing through, focusing much more when she recognized the name of the victim.
james kelly. 26 year old jersey city resident, found dead in a trash bag behind a mcdonald’s. you mostly covered the details of the murder, his known last actions before he died, but there was a small section for what he’d done before—a short criminal history for unlawful possession of a firearm. that was the only thing that was technically on record, but if you asked anyone who might’ve knew him, they would’ve said something different. specifically, james’ past girlfriends would say that he was a serial domestic abuser.
sevika didn’t know him personally—didn’t have to. she overheard a group of drunk women she was serving at the bar, loudly talking about one of their exes.
“and zoe, didn’t you used to date that dead beat guy, james or something?”
“oh my godddd, i remember that! yeah zoe, i don’t know what you saw in that guy to stay for like 2 years, he literally hit you when you guys argued.”
“gee, thanks for airing out my business to everybody in the tri-state area! at least you’re informing the public not to date james kelly!”
it wasn’t exactly difficult to find him with his full name. because a week after that, sevika was quietly stalking him, learning his routine. and one night, as james was walking home from buying weed, completely unaware of his surroundings, she killed him. it was simple and easy—headlock, stab, twist in the stomach.
“fuck.” sevika shook her head as she snapped out of her daydream, focusing back on the video. but it was much harder to concentrate now that she’d made the connection.
she lives in jersey city. james lived in jersey city. and now, apparently, you live in jersey city.
