Poster Mock Up
Final Poster
Once I had made the adjustments that were suggested to me I found that the poster worked very well and overall I was pleased with the final outcome.
Pin-Up Crit
During today's pin up crit we displayed our posters as a set and presented them to the group. We received feedback from fellow students as well as our lecturer and guest lecturer. Overall our feedback was incredibly positive and we were very pleased with the experience.
Some of the constructive criticism that we received was that the body text seemed very bulky so maybe re-consider the line length or maybe use bullet points rather than paragraphing. Also, perhaps explore putting an abbreviation of litres next to the number so that you're immediately shown the unit of measurement.
Moving forwards I intend to reflect on the criticism given to me and see if making these minor adjustments would help to create a more successful poster.
Printed Posters
To ensure our posters are legible and work well together as a collection we decided to print them off and place them next to one another. Overall we were impressed without final outcomes as the only things that needed to be changed were some spelling and grammar within the smaller body text.
We found that the size of the type works very well and is legible and has a clear hierarchy and also the shade of blue has a soft yet impactful appearance.
Once we had reconsidered the size of the CTA we came to the conclusion that there weren't enough assets within the design therefore it looked very empty and the content didn't sit very well.
Therefore we discussed what else we could use to help add extra information. We came to the concludion that if we are incorporating a CTA then we should include some information on what people can do to help.
Considering the composition, we had a very quick experimentation with our designs and also bringing in the call to action word 'Reuse'. Immediately we disliked this composition as it appeared to stiff which does not associate well with the flowing design of the water.
Having the CTA very loud and bold on the page doesn't work very well either as it takes away from the numbers, which are the most important asset of the poster.
Initial Designs
To start the process of designing we narrowed down what information needed to be placed within the poster and which assets we would like to include. We came up with the system of the more water the product uses in its production, the more blue would cover the poster. This was to try to enhance the impact of reaction of the viewer when they realise how much water is really used to create their clothing.
We wanted to have a very clear hierarchy within the type to draw the audience in and immediately show the the vast amount of water used.
Moving forward we wanted to explore the composition of the type. We also discussed the idea of having a call to action word , similar to the 'recycle, reuse, reduce' so then it explains ways that the audience could help use less water and reconsider what they buy and also what they do once they are finished with their clothing.
Poster Photography
Due to the fact that we know we want to add photography to our poster we decided to take some photographs of our own clothing. When we decided which photos we intend to use we will then look into editing them and making them black and white.
