With several decades behind me, I sometimes find myself needing the company of those two generations younger. Engaging in conversation isn't necessary for my enjoyment; they tell me everything if I just observe. 

When your age, I often sought out older people in bars, at concerts, in solitude. Theirs was an unspoken invitation to study the pages of a recorded life. Wisdom shared from so many, whether they be vibrant or a vagrant. Lessons I gleaned, yet quickly forgot until they presented themselves during various life experiences.  Seems I would mislabel them a deja vu, forgetting those impromptu conversations years ago with the wise people way beyond thirty. How fortunate I feel today to have those treasures preserved in a soul that is responsible and appreciative -- one built back in the day when man knew how to produce a soul meant to last. A spirit and heart made naturally, not from synthetics as is the current standard. 

Today, I share the sidewalks and cafes with those in their late teens and early twenties, watching them feign wisdom and coolness. They look different than I -- some in all black, one side of their head shaved and the other side long and dyed something other than the three primary colors. I am a minority in their circle, but very welcome because they get that we look very different physically, but we share a kindred spirit for words, thoughts and passion. Our souls look very similar. We beat together.
