I need opinions

Just told my dad about my alterhumanity, and in the process of explaining it, he said this (paraphrased): "See, you're using labels. I've watched labels mess people up over and over again for years."

It was interesting, because I both agree and disagree with him. Like yes, labels can start to mess things up if they get out of hand, but also, it's nice to have a word for your exact experience.

Anyone else want to add to this? I'm interested to see some opinions.

It’s such an intimidating thing to write an imperfect character because people swear they want to read about complex, nuanced characters who are a bit controversial and have a lot of layers, but those same people tend to take characters like that and rip them apart and talk about how “problematic” they are for not being squeaky clean and perfect.
