In today's #30daysofpride I'm featuring another favorite person of mine. As one half of the recently married couple in Welcome to Night Vale, @cecilbaldwiniii is a queer man who makes a difference in our culture. A few months back on #shuttingdownbullshit with @dylanmarron on #seriouslytv (Cecil's fictional husband), Baldwin came out as HIV positive. He did this to sent everyone a message that being diagnosed with HIV is no longer a death sentence for gay men. And he is proud of the fact that he can say, "I'm positive and living not dying" He is an inspiration and he is so kickass for proving the stigma wrong!! I love you Cecil, you rock!!! #pridemonth #gaypride #wtnv

If Jane Austen Narrated The Trans Bathroom Bill Saga

North Carolina is a mess. The Trans Bathroom Bill is thinly veiled fear disguised as law. The fallout was especially confusing: America gave North Carolina an ultimatum? And then North Carolina sued America? And then America sued North Carolina right back? 

So I decided to adapt this saga into a Jane Austen-style romance. The heroine (America) is at odds with her former lover (North Carolina) over how he treats his trans house staff. In the third episode our heroine pays a visit to the queen (Loretta Lynch) to make sense of this all. 

This is a very serious issue, and one that has real ramifications for many trans folk all across the country. Make no mistake: this is unapologetic gender policing that is encouraging the majority to fear the minority. Sometimes we need to satirize even the scariest things to help us understand how ridiculous they are.
