The Gate of All Nations, also known as the Gate of Xerxes (6th century BC), located among the ruins of the ancient city of Persepolis, Iran.

On this day in 1738 Handel's opera Serse debuted.

There are many amazing operas, and a huge number of beautiful arias. But truly, I don't think there is anything more lovely and perfect than "Ombra mai fu."
