Gallian: do a shocked face for us, please? How about an angry one too?
“No thanks. I’m good.”
Just got into a debate with my friend and you guys really should think about this.
Friend: I hate SM but I love EXO.
Me: Why do you hate SM though?
Friend: They treat their artists like shit! Think of all the people that left!
Me: ???? No they don't! There are plenty of other fucked up companies that even sexually harass or take money from their trainees.
Friend: Yeah but SM doesn't give their artists freedom.
Me: SM just makes sure they dont fall out of the system for their own good. After a while it gets okay. Look at BoA and TVXQ and SUJU and SNSD.
Friend: Yeah but look at EXO.
Me: What about them?
Friend: They don't have freedom!
Me: ??? What makes you say that?
Friend: Theyre always tired and sad!
Me: Sure they're tired. They're working. Who ISN'T tired from working? But they have 10 million people in the world that are in love with them, they get a free home, free food, and free clothes. They have a bank account filled with money! There are millions of people who work just as hard and don't even make 5% of what they earn.
Friend: If they HAD freedom, why did the three leave?
Me: All the people that was Chinese! They left because they knew for a fact they can make so much more money in China, and with the popularity they built up in Korea and China under SM's management, they became one of the richest people in the country. Do you think they started from the bottom in China? No! SM helped them by training them and feeding them and letting them come out on TV shows.
Friend: What about Sulli Jessica and JYJ? What about Kibum?
Me: Sulli left because she was tired of the hate comments and being a celebrity. Jessica left to run one of the most popular businesses in China. CHINA. And Kibum is still under SM, a member of SUJU, just acting, not singing.
Friend: And JYJ?
Me: JYJ was the key to the system changing. Before them, SM had 'slave contracts' and so did 99% of the other entertainment industries. JYJ is known as a legend because of that. They're not even in the same catagory!
Friend: Ok I get your point. *changes subject*
I see no flaw in her logic. Move along.
