@backswordforhire replied to your post: I'M SORRY BUT I HAVE TO ASK IF YOU'VE EVER uhhhh...
JAKOB MIGHT DISAGREE
LMAO BUT YOU NOTICE THAT SWEET DODGE? HE SAID HE COULD NEVER ASK HIM, NOT THAT IT NEVER HAPPENED. LEFT THAT WIDE OPEN. MAYBE THINGS HAPPENED, MAYBE THEY DIDN’T.
Also depends on what’s truly meant by experiment. Like I wouldn’t be opposed to that being taken in terms of discovering his own sexuality and if our Jakob was okay with it like maybe at one point in his youth Corrin was just like Jakob is cute I like Jakob maybe I’d like to kiss Jakob whEEZE OH NO I COULD NEVER ASK THAT BUT MAYBE I COULD JUST... DO IT. OH NO!! GOTTA RUN FROM THESE GAY THOUGHTS!!!
Either way y’all know Jakob is an incredibly important person in his life regardless of what they’ve done or felt in regards to one other. That won’t change.
*chu!*
It happens when she turns her head to ask him a question, and what was certainly supposed to be a kiss to the cheek ends up planted off target, right on the corner of her mouth. It’s a surprise, but almost immediately reminds her of her own attempt during the festival, and she’s laughing as she pulls back.
“Wow, so forward…and you didn’t even offer to dance with me this time.” She smiles at him. It’s probably too much, she realizes, a Nohrian thing maybe, and he probably wouldn’t appreciate it…though had he been completely uninterested, he probably wouldn’t have gone to kiss her cheek either.
She’s quiet a moment, debating, but then she tentatively leans forward. “Since we keep missing…should leave it to an archer, huh?” It’s brief, a chaste kiss, for once fully on the lips for them both, but she quickly pulls away and turns back to the task before he catches her flushed cheeks. “So…then it’s strained, right?”

“Jakob?”
He had yet to hold a proper conversation with the butler. He can’t really attest as to why he tended to avoid him other than he always either seemed busy or annoyed or a mixture of the two. Briefly he recalls their only interaction which consisted of Laslow being told to move, having apparently been in the way of where the other was off to. He didn’t appreciate it at the time, particularly with the tone he was given. Now, however, it’s a new day and a chance for them to better understand one another (or at least it’s the optimistic attitude he’s attempting to hold).
“Please pardon the intrusion, but I’ve a favor to ask of you.”
He pauses for a moment then, hesitant in his request. He’d heard it a lot recently – that he shouldn’t be a retainer due to his ever frivolous and flirtatious behavior. After having the same thing told to him over and over so many times, it’s finally begun to best him. He wants so badly to prove these allegations false. But his problem came with how he could possibly do so. Thus he turned to the most wholly devoted retainer he knows for both assistance as well as advice. If anyone could teach him to do more for his liege, he’s certain it would be Jakob. However, he didn’t know if it would sound like a foolish and pointless effort to the other and he can only hope that Jakob won’t simply brush aside his request due to his rather notorious reputation.
“You see… I want to better myself for milord’s sake. But I’m uncertain how to go about doing so and I was hoping that perhaps you’d be able to lend me a hand.”

&&. Devotion. // Jakob.

“We’ll be together when we die.” Jakob affirmed, very matter of fact. it was kind of a grim conversation to be having over breakfast, but relevant to the book that the butler had insisted on reading to the prince to help him sleep the night before. Clearly, it was still on his mind, and how could a romance novel between a lord and his maidservant not be?
“Or I shall perish in a battle to the death defending you. Naturally, not like the pitiful excuse for an attendant from that story last night! He shouldn’t have sacrificed himself for her.” Growing a bit red in the face, Jakob took the first sip, and recoiled after burning his tongue. One would have thought it was poison with how Jakob threw himself across the tabletop to take the cup out of his liege’s hand, sparing Corrin from the same mildly uncomfortable fate.
“You must forgive me for choosing such dispiriting night-time literature, my lord. Normally I read an entire story through before sharing it with you, but we’ve been so busy lately, and the cover art looked so lovely.” Sighing deeply, Jakob righted himself in his seat.
He had not even the time to bring his own cup to his lips before it’s already carefully pried from his hands. He’d been far too taken aback by Jakob's words, causing him to pause in contemplation. Though he knows his butler's devotion runs deep, each time Jakob addresses the extent of it himself, the bold declarations never cease to strike him. He couldn't take the idea of the other dying on his behalf lightly, nor the promise that he would follow him to the very grave without so much as a second thought.
"I... appreciate your sentiment, Jakob. But you must know by now that I would never forgive myself if you died for my sake. You are someone important to me, and like it or not, that means I want to protect you. Much like the lord in that tale, should I ever see you in danger, I will come to your defense without fail. It wouldn’t matter the cost, nor would it matter if it was the first incident or the hundredth. After all, would it not make me a pitiful excuse for a lord if I were to abandon a friend I hold so dearly?"
Although his expression has been serious while he was speaking, he now offers the other a softened, almost sad, smile. He hopes the other will understand, even if he does not necessarily agree. “And... just so that you are aware, I did enjoy the story, sad as it was. Although, I certainly would’ve much preferred a happier ending.”
@servants-joy ;; From Here :
“Really, this isn’t necessary, honest.” Jakob protested meekly, unable to put up much of a fuss. He was still feeling weak from whatever wretched illness he’d caught, and while he wasn’t contagious any longer, this was too much.
“My lord, please, I must insist.” except it wasn’t very convincing at all. The lack of energy combined with the feel of Corrin’s fingers run through his hair had left him unable to resist, and even leaning unwittingly into the touch.
"Jakob, please, just relax." His hands are gentle as they work. Nimble fingers thread through his hair, making certain it's free of knots or tangles first and foremost. When Jakob begins to lean into his touch, his lips pull into a wide grin. There isn't much Corrin felt he could do for the other while he was sick. But he hoped that by pulling him into such a frivolous activity, he might soothe him.
"It's not so bad now, is it? I don’t see why you were trying to make such a silly fuss over it."
Meta: How does Setsuna handle emotional situations (good or bad)? Is she more likely to seek someone out for comfort and company or keep to herself to reflect on it? Are her emotions easy to read?
Oh gosh oh geez okay.
How Setsuna handles emotions in general tends to depend on how well she knows the person she’s with. She definitely handles positive situations a lot better than negative ones. She has no problem with positive emotions with close friends (or even not close friends.) and having a moment is good. At most, she might slip a few jokes in to balance out the situation.
With not-friends, even positive situations are kinda iffy? Her C support with Ryoma (I keep mentioning this lately damn) jumps to mind because he literally compliments her so much she has to leave...to get her shit together she’s so happy...baby girl you are precious. She doesn’t always believe compliments/positive emotions towards her from strangers so she tends to make more jokes/deflect with her nonsense replies a lot to make herself more comfortable.
