We are very sad to learn that #PeterCampbell died last night. Peter was one of the founders of #SurvivorsSpeakOut in the 1980's and a pioneer of survivor activism, history and poetry. Rest in Peace Peter💔

Last night a friend and I were looking at the ICD-10, because that's what we do for fun.

I must say, social media posts by service users have taught me a great deal more about the inner life and struggles people with mental health conditions and disabilities face. The language used to describe symptoms of mental health conditions is not only derogatory, it is incomplete. By it's own admission the ICD- 10 goes on to describe some of the symptoms as unclear. However, the work of lived experience practitioners and service users, especially on social media has been educative. Knowing what those symptoms mean in an ableist world and how they impact daily life is key in formulating any treatment, social justice initiative or policy change.
