Elucidation in the Deep Dark
Erei, seeing Levin shooting arrows, disengages to try and talk to caradoc... they need Nimako's healing. She gives weak protest to him taking someone else, for some reason, and then comes back with... chaos around her, the last thing she knew being elymas seemingly betraying with Adie's support...
Elymas stabilizes himself. Nimako, unpossessed, spares the dieing uselessly, just for the draconian krilil to say something about them having killed their lightbearer, and uses a spell scroll of some sort ot send him off anyways as an 'offering'.
Levin reaches Ereidoc, a quick question making it clear the suspicion of who's who. There's a near growl of a warning, of Caradoc better keep Erei safe of he'll never possess ANYONE again.
Levin shoots the killing blow on Kiryl, and she explodes into electric blasts that hits the three near her- Kay, Becklin, and Mallori.
Battle over, Levin and Kay rush to Erei, and Caradoc seems to aquiesce to being in Erei's background after some leering from the elf and teifling.
The Dragonel is poisoned, our best bet to getting back to the elven camp in time... Erei explains that it seems it's old side did this to them, and Levin, seeing Erei petting it, cures. but, instead, we plan a sneak attack on the dragon army's camp: Al, if anything like Elymas, will be fine, and this will be our chance to sneak attack the camp.
They're going to stick to pairs now. Kay and Erei, Levin and Becklin, Nimako and Mallori. Nimako and Mallori are going to go to Nadir and get reinforcements, while the rest head to the camp as a forward party.
Levin goes to send a message to Eirma. Kay, on Alert for this, doesn't want eirma to know Erei got. dead. neither want that to be said.
Nimako and Mallori can head out while the main group rest a moment while the Dragonel recovers from being poisoned, but Mallori also needs a moment. Nimako, understandingly uninjured but knowing she missed the battle, does not press.
with a bit of convincing, Erei and Mallori get Caradoc to look at the pedestal. He atleast knows the origins, but none of it's purpose or usage. Maple knowing it's magic, but what's a magic circle for? putting someone in? Levin, hearing this... yeah sure, walks right into the middle of the circle. nothing happens.
Kay breaks a weird divination thing. and with Levin, they investigate another. Rather break it then let the enemy have it, if they can't take it.
Nimako seeing what seems like Caradoc and Erei chatting tunes in, getting Erei... and well, it's fine enough, Maple can remind him of anything they forget later, and Erei while she was there... asked Nimako who she was writing to in her book. because Maple wrote it. Nimako refuses to answer, instead hanging up the mind link. Caradoc, all conspiratorially, slides up to Erei mentally, saying she called out to someone called 'Inkling' for help. He tries to get Erei to think Nimako is the traitor, and Maple takes this idea to Levin, and now eeeeeeveryone knows she's writing to someone in her book! There goes that!!
At least Nimako is told about Kansaldi's words about a traitor, and realized that's what she's being accused of. for a moment, she looks about ready to cry, but in a moment of clarity, she stops, and has an outraged outburst- what she wrote has always been private and how she processes thing. She talks about when she was upset with Erei, like she'd told Sky. She talks how she wrote a whole poem about Elymas! that it's just been retroactive, not forward. finally, she just gets up and walks away, pissed.
Levin assures that he trusts her: if they are being tracked via a god, then they could be tracking him. he wants to check in on her, but she insists she's fine. It is what it is. It's war. writing and having someone sometimes answer here was the least of concerns. she goes to just think, strumming her kalimba as she does so...
In a moment's indignation, or desperation, or something, she peers out into the sands, music falling silent as she sees too far again. it's dark, she doesn't see them, but she hears them. There's not words to answer the wuestions, why she was indigant, was she trying to surprise them, etc. But, Inkling mentions that unexpected things happening is part of the game, and asks if reality need to makes sense. They know what is happening- in which another voice chimes in quietly, with a question, "we do?" and she hears. another chimes in more enthusiastically, "Nimako I love you! Platonically." with the interruptions, Inkling cuts the connection short, and she's left with... more to think about.
Levin tries to pray. It doesn't work. Maple imitates him. There's a response: Maple's dad sends a flower.
