For the entirety of her youth, or at least since she had arrived on her grandmother's door as an orphaned child, Rin Akamatsu had dreamed of nothing more than leaving the monotony of Shirakawa. But after a stint at college, a troubled Rin must return to the familiarity of her childhood home mute and seeking a place to safely withdraw from the world. Only to find, that despite the sleepy familiarity of its surface, that something dark and simmering has followed her there. Realizing she can no longer run from the horrors of the world and convinced her new neighbor is the source of the change, Rin will undergo her greatest challenge yet as she is forced to fight for those she loves. Along the way she will discover that the worst demons don't always dwell within us, sometimes they lurk right next door
~One of the best fanfic I've ever read It's more like a gothic romance / horror novel, but with sessrin

Rin is the young 17-year old servant of a well-known and highly reputable Geisha house called Kodachi. Known for perfection in both clean and erotic entertainment displays, the human Geisha house has attracted new clientele: the Western Dog Demons. Just an expendable servant with a horrific past, Rin manages to gather the negative attention of the Lord's eldest son, Sesshoumaru.
~I'm sure everyone who read this couple's fanfiction knows this one
It's in my top 10 sessrin fic

Against All Odds
Summary: Rin is a shrine maiden in training, a good, responsible girl who has always done exactly what's expected of her. That is, until she finds an injured man in the forest one day and decides to help him. What happens next changes her world forever.
A canon divergence AU featuring an older Rin crossing paths with bratty, teenage Sesshomaru. This will be a slow burn, cautious allies to lovers fic.

Word Count: 50,136
Chapters: 22
Status: Finished
I've been working on this slow burn Sess/Rin canon divergence fic for a couple of weeks. This might be the fastest I've ever written a completed fic and it's been such a joy to write a genuine romance for these two. It's nearly finished now, so I thought I'd share the link here for anyone interested in checking it out.

Synopsis: Rin is a shrine maiden in training, a good, responsible girl who has always done exactly what's expected of her. That is, until she finds an injured man in the forest one day and decides to help him. What happens next changes her world forever.
Shrine maiden Rin meets bratty younger Sesshomaru and things don't turn out how either of them expect.
Not me, the Queen of writer’s blocks and procrastination, updating two fics in the same week.
Do you have that one fanfic that never got finished but still lingers in the back of your mind? Abandoned fics are bittersweet, especially when they have potential.
One of mine is a SessRin fic done by Inuyasha Cooks. It’s a modern SessRin AU where Rin lives with Kohaku and Sango and encounters Sesshomaru while she’s gardening.
I’m not sure why this one sticks out for me, but I have a few ideas:
The writing style is different from the usual fanfic fare, which I love. The author has a way of making you feel part of the scene, as though you’re sitting on the front porch watching it all play out.
I also enjoy the characterizations of Rin and Sesshomaru. He has a quiet presence the way he’s written that makes the reader look forward to the next scene he’s in. But Rin is interesting too - a young woman, independent, in search of excitement/adventure, something to break up the monotony of the day to day. Torn between the relationship she’s in and the thrill of potential for something new. She’s a very relatable character.
The story has major slow burn energy, and I’m a sucker for slow burns.
I think part of it too is that for some reason when I read this fic I picture Rin’s house as my grandmother’s. It had a porch and garden. A tree shaded street and a sidewalk out front. It was close to the train station, too. Whenever I read this fic I picture my grandma’s house and it gives me no shortage of nostalgia.
If you’re looking for something new and different that’s SessRin, I suggest giving “Leave Him for Me” by Inuyasha Cooks a try.
The next chapter of Courtship Rituals is 15 pages... *sigh* So much editing ahead, but the good news is it’s nearly ready to post!
