cactus view restaurant, cameron highlands.
this is my to-go bbq and steamboat/hotpot place when visiting cameron highlands, never missed it once because it’s just a must-visit place on my list. and going with a group of friends would make the experience more fun and enjoyable.
eating steamboat/hotpot is a culture in cameron highlands, because of the chilly weather, and there’s just steamboat/hotpot restaurant everywhere. this place uses a mix pan where you can grill meat in the middle and cook food in soup on the side, it’s thai style called mookata, and for me, this is really perfect.
the restaurant do set menus, minimum order of 2 pax which has fresh vegetables, a plate of bbq meat, some frozen steamboat/hotpot assorted fish balls, egg tofu, abalone slices, mushroom, noodles and egg. it’s a very traditional steamboat set.
you can of course add on more based on the number of people and also order extra for any dishes that you like. the meat is highly recommended, it grills perfectly, just a good aroma, very appetizing flavor, not too fatty and goes well with their homemade chili sauce.
the soup is clear and when cooked with vegetables, it taste so refreshing and sweet, great to wash down all the meat. and chinese tea is of course the perfect drink for the meal to cleanse away the oiliness.
the place do get crowded very quickly, so visit early to get a spot, or have a late dinner, i love how simple yet satisfying the meal is, and it’s just awesome with the chilly weather.
