We just uploaded Alabama's own Seth Kimbrough's part from the 2001 Northwest classic ./Blueprint www.snakebitebmx.com/seth-kimbrough-blueprint-2001/
I remember hearing about how this section was filmed in 4 days with Seth suffering a broken rib he got from one of the Road Fools. Quite amazing feat saying this is a whole 3:30 second section, something others would work on for years to achieve an end product of a similar caliber. It’s got the first hanger 180 I remember. I recall that clip specifically cause being dumbfounded by something that new and original (and simple, cause I like all things simple). Like I said it’s definitely a good section, something any pro could be proud of but even then I feel like it does do Seth justice.
Seth Kimbrough has always been a rider whose never had a section that I feel gave him real justice. Skill wise he’s definitely during the whole late mid school era, early new school, he was definitely one of the best. He was doing x-up grind to hard 180 on a steep rail back in Road Fools 11. That was back in 2003 so over a decade ago, a trick that a lot of pros today couldn’t even begin to tackle. On the same Road Fools trip he does a brakeless 360 hurricane to icepick to fakie, that’s the first and last one I ever recall. He’s was mad progressive for his time, had lots of pop, could bar and oppo spin with the best of them. He just never had a section that compiled his best into something so great that people couldn’t turn away. All of his section are good, I’m not saying they’re not but it just always felt like it was lacking in the his whole potential.
I imagine it’s cause of a few variables that makes someone like Seth’s case unique. Biggest, he was in Alabama. Where I assume he was his whole career and even now. I can’t imagine Alabama being the best place to push your riding career. I can’t imagine a bunch of dudes out there there with a camera on standby or having the full spot treatment a bigger city could offer. Those two things would definitely make it harder for someone like Seth to film a standout section. He didn’t seem like the guy whose going on trips on the reg either which makes it even harder. He’s always had the same core sponsors and they don’t seem to be fussed by his lack of facetime in BMX. But mang! That’s Seth Kimbrough, dude’s a real OG, he does whatever he wants. The silent type that’s a secret shredder aka the best kind of pro.
I just wish he had section that did him real justice but I don’t think were gonna get that. He’s older now, real responsibilities, real pain that comes from falling, he’s fars away from the young Seth that lowkey killed everything. At this point it’s gonna be hard to see that and there is a good chance we probably never will but still could see Seth at some scrappy skatepark in the middle of nowhere Alabama doing some secret banger stuff with no one around. I kind of like imagining Seth like that.

It’s so good to see new Seth Kimbrough footage and even better that it’s with Chicago local Trent McDaniel!!!
I didn’t even know that Shadow was filming for a full length until this morning. This looks like it’s going to be properly sick!!
From Shadow:
“What could go wrong? A question every rider asks themselves before trying something new. Sometimes the answer is good and sometimes, it's bad. You might find yourself rolling away from a set of stairs smiling ear to ear, or you may find yourself at the bottom of that same set of stairs bloody and beaten. There’s never a definite answer. Whatever happens though, in the end, it’s really about how you got there.”
