dogeatdog thoughts again. after finding her journal, seth's stalking grew even more- he had to know whether the diary was a piece of fiction from a writer's mind or the ramblings of somebody convincing herself she's a sociopath. he saw her kill, that's canon. he could've called the cops. he could've saved her victims. intervened. gotten justice for everyone she killed before that day on the bus. but seth isn't normal like that, holly points it out to him herself; with her lines like i used to think i was the only one and all the girls in the world and you get a hard-on for me? you and me, we were born to do this. he's not really interested in saving people. he's only in it to save her. he knows his love is sacrifice because he would sacrifice anything and anyone, including his mind and body, to save that of hers.

pet (2016) is literally a love story. you have to understand that it's a love story, if you want to judge it accurately. "but he kidnaps her" "oh she tortures him" okay and? love isn't a purifying force, that's the whole point of the movie. holly still has her urges and curiosities... seth is still insecure and obsessive... in its own words, love's not a lightning bolt. so holly lets herself start to believe seth's crusade, reawakening a slight ability to feel because their mutual obsession makes her feel better, she has found someone that she describes shockingly similar to a soulmate. and seth allows himself to be slowly destroyed by holly, in the name of saving her, keeping her from hurting others and ruining the perfect life she has spent so long perfecting faking- devotion is destruction and vice versa. love is sacrifice.
