Director Seth Rogen Hopes Tom Cruise Finds His Death in ‘Preacher’ Hilarious

Tom Cruise, who died at a Scientology event in the Preacher series, has been the joke of the town. Director and producer Seth Rogen, however, hopes that the Hollywood actor will find it “hilarious.”

The show is based on the famous, wickedly funny and supernatural-horror comic books of Garth Ennis. It revolves around a Texas minister named Jesse Custer, who is in search of redemption after a life of crime, as noted in Hollywood Reporter.

In the first episode, a heavenly being crashed into Earth and infiltrated several people, causing them to combust and explode. Unfortunately, Tom Cruise was also a victim.

When Preacher’s director Seth Rogen was asked by the host in the edition of Talking Preacher on if he thinks the Top Gun actor is aware that he is part of the series’ running joke, Rogen laughed. He said that he thinks Cruise knows because it has been into press when it first premiered. He added that he hopes that the actor would find it hilarious, as reported in UPI.com.

Rogen added that it was just a joke. He thinks that if he finds it funny. As of this moment, they have not yet heard an official statement from Tom Cruise‘s camp.

He further explained why Custer survived the possession when this supernatural form has destroyed others. He said that people could not handle it and for whatever reason, they are not the right match that the entity is looking for.

Showrunner Sam Catlin elaborated that those people, including Katie Holmes‘ ex-husband Tom Cruise, have no right combination of good and evil, unlike the preacher who possesses angelic and demonic qualities.

Preacher, starred by Dominic Cooper, Joe Gilgun and Ruth Negga, airs Sunday nights on AMC.
