The dinner party had been awful, there was no other way to put it, no one that sat on that table had been left unharmed. In a way, she was glad Rita had offered her the truth beforehand, allowing her to break down on her own and not become a show for everyone to see. It didn't mean she'd had a good time at all, her lashing out at the rest of the guests was a defensive maneuver that had left her feeling no better than before. She knew she could've measured herself, but she'd already been restraining herself or else it would've been hexes that hurt rather than her words. In all honesty, the brunette had behaved quite nicely for someone who'd been deceived both by the one she thought loved her and the one she believed her trustworthy best friend.
Her date, though apparently much better informed than her, had fallen far from the fireline. Sure, he'd known about the couple when he kissed Emma while she hadn't known anything when being with Thorfinn, but she couldn't quite blame him when he'd always been honest. Even more so, the wizard had taken her home after the tormentous disaster, earning her respect.
Athena could've chosen to avoid him altogether, let him remain a page from her past she'd soon get over, but it didn't feel right. She had truly enjoyed their time together and found she cared little for proprieties after all she'd learned. The owl was sent, a simple invitation, not much said aside from the where and when. He knew the place already, they had shared a friendly competition a little over a week ago, but this time she wasn't asking him over to play. Instead, the witch had made sure they'd have something to drink, a lovely table set up in the gardens of her family's Manor. She hadn't known if he'd come, a doubt which lingered up until she saw him slowly walking towards her. The brunette waved her hand at him. "Over here." She told him, waiting till he'd reached the table to stand up and lean in to place a soft kiss on his cheek. "I wasn't sure you'd choose to accept the invitation, considering... well, everything."
