the third years LIVE for the first sword day of the year bc by that time they’re old and experienced and ready to laugh at the fear of the first-years (but privately, so their coach won’t threaten them with the sword too)

Momoi is so highly sought after by other sports clubs (all other sports clubs) as a manager that the upperclassmen in the basketball club assign the other first-years to accompany her p much wherever she goes and keep watch over her at all times bc they can’t risk losing her to girls volleyball (like they lost their last manager)
